I have 10 acres with an underground electrical barrier. Far more cost effective than a fence. One of my dogs is a blue heeler, to be sure be wouldn't jump or climb a fence I would have needed a 8 ft high wrought iron fence. To make sure he didn't dig his way out I would have had to use buried pig boards. At first the electric fence was essential. Then the pups learned it wasn't any fun to cross. Now the wear the dummy collars that buzz when they reach about 8 feet of the fence. This is much more effective and cost effective. Just like I hope our border security will be. Even if it was more expensive I would have went this route due to its effectiveness.
