Van Morrison - Tell Me Something: The Songs of Mose Allison

First time listening to this album.

72F / 73% RH / calm - borderline Summer-like weather today, even ran the a/c at dinner time

I happen to like Mose Allison, have an old vinyl LP called I've Been Doing Some Thinkin' that I just love. Gave up looking for it on cd a few years ago, but it has what I think is the proper interpretation of You Are My Sunshine.

I only checked libraries for the cd. I'm sure I can find it to buy...or fix my KLH and play the old LP

YES!
Mose kicks me where I keep my emotions with that rendition.
Like most people, I grew up thinking it was a happy sing-along-with-Mitch song, but Mose exposes the fear of loss.

There are other gems on that album, some witty lyrics, some stellar piano (I believe he was classically trained) and most far from sad...though pretty mellow.

Guessing I purchased it circa 1969?

It completely changes the character of that song. I like that. Thank you.

J/K! 😁

Seriously, you should get it. It has certainly changed the way I listen to music out in the garage. The width and breadth is awesome.

Hope he holds to it. I had the kid on a good path but around 12-13 he fell in with a bad crowd and fell headlong into rap and hippity hoppity
