Money is moving out Delta, not in. Yes, major companies are philanthropic. But they still need a return on their investment. It just a different type of return. Results. Why would any company in their right mind invest in these neighborhoods? Most stock holders primary reason for investing in a company is to make money. Most privately held businesses primary motive is to make money. That's just the way it is. Philanthropy is not about giving hand outs or throwing money a a problem without a solution.

Does culteral systemic racism exist? No. Does cultural systemic bias exist? Yes. Are reparations ever going to happen? No. I'm not a slave owner and there are no slaves in our country.

It is important to understand the underlying problem, welfare and all of it's ugly friends. But right now it's all smoke and mirrors. If the existing system keeps people in bondage, fix the system. Education, education, education. That includes trade schools for adults.

Let's go back to an eye for an eye. You wanna illegally carry a gun? Lets cut your hands off. You want to rape someone? Let's cut your ****** off. You want to sell drugs? Let's shoot you up with a lethal dose of heroin. You wanna take a life? Lets take yours. Same standards for all. Including police.

A lot more goes with this. But do not think business should spend it's money foolishly. We need real answers, not smoke and mirrors. If this is going to happen it must use logic, and be organic.

There are bad cops, but cops aren't bad. Break the damn contracts that are bad. It can be done. That's what Minnesota needs to do right now.

So we agree big government isn’t the answer, great news!

sadly, it isn't in this case...

big government has helped when this nation was on the brink of collapse:

helped to have big government during the Depression era and the massive federal govt. New Deal

during WWII, when the nation got behind the federal military effort to defeat the real Axis of Evil

after the financial markets collapsed in 2007-2008 and nearly sank the world's economy...good thing the federal government helped to rescue our economy then...

and, now, trying to weather the pandemic caused economic collapse

but in the cause of fixing social inequality, especially for black, minority and native Americans: not so much. Our history is replete of opposite events happening.

It does make me feel better that the fat white cigar smoking crowd is so familiar with and concerned with the plight of the American negro to the extent we know not only what causes their troubles but how to fix them. Now if only we could get them to trust us and listen to us.

Funny you would say something like this, do you know where the source of the quote in the OP? Did you read it? It's from a speech given by, Sen. Barack Obama (D-Ill.).

I wasn’t referencing the op. Not even sure I read it. I was talking about the fat cigar smoking folk in here. You know responding to the current part of the conversation immediate before my post. That’s how I read the forum and why threads meander all over the place. sometimes I skim until I find a post of interest then comment.

Idgaf what Obama said. I get bored with the but Obama stuff. It’s stale.

I typically converse more about botls own thoughts rather than a c&p of someone else’s. That’s what I did here. I’d say it again right now regardless of the first post.

But I find it funny that’s what you wanted and that you somehow think you got me lol. You must have really wanted that. Lol.

It’s a pretty weak attempt. You can get me better in the Cosby thread lmao.

I genuinely believe broken families are the root cause of many problems, and it's getting worse faster in other groups, e.g., whites. Sen Moynihan has been saying this for years, as strange as me quoting Obama eh?

Besides the topic, I was trying to demonstrate a tendency here to judge posts more by the author and not by the content. I did not try to get you or anyone else, but apparently it did get to you, for that I'm sorry.

Meh... I'm not sorry and there is no need for you to be. It's all good.

I don't disagree with the message or with Moynahan for that matter. Although the DP part of his name made me laugh because I was even more juvenile back then. Back in his day there were some dems of value LOL. Like Nunn etc. I always liked the moderate republicans and moderate democrats. Even Tip and Ronnie got along. (edit: but I liked the flame throwers too.... I even liked newt but as I look back he is in no small way part of the mess we find ourselves in.... I now want civility and cooperation)

The why it is deteriorating is debatable but it's hard to dispute the benefits of a solid nuclear family let alone an extended family.

I honestly don't even know if I read the quote in the OP. I do find it funny when any group knows what another group should do without talking to the other group. In this instance I was thinking my friends in here more than politicians. That's just a general pet peeve of mine. I also don't think many in here if they were to be honest are that concerned with helping that group unless it in someway benefits themselves directly or indirectly. (Safety or whatever) But thats my ugly cynical side.
