Did the bundy dude's tear a bunch of stuff down with no regard for anything and were given a pass by the media and a large portion of celebrities and politicians?

Went they just grazing on land they always grazed on? And wasn't the government's response to send armed FBI, etc

Without supporting that past event they just don't seem equivalent.

The Emancipation memorial is now a target of the marching morons. A statue funded by freed slaves, dedicated by Frederick Douglass. Truly a priceless Memorial to those great men and women (all freed slaves) who gave for it.

I guess the interpretation of the art is filtered through the observer's eyes and perspectives. While some, like yourself, see it as a black man on his knees in front of Lincoln others see it as a freed slave with broken shackles rising up from his knees.

Kinda sheds light on the perception of the observer's state of mind. Think of it as sort of a Rorschach Test.

I said he was kneeling in front of Lincoln. A factual statement of a physical position someone is in. I did not intend to imply he was on an upward or downward trajectory. Perhaps I would have been better suited to say "on his knees in front of Lincoln", but we don't do a lot of editing here.

I don't actually have a perspective on the statue itself. I don't know anything about the history, the artist's statements or anything like that. You chose to believe I had a perspective. And you chose to have the opposite perspective.

I'd be curious, answer honestly, did you even know that statue existed before the BLM protests started talking about it this month? I didn't, which is why I attempted to make a relatively neutral statement "that's a weird statue"... It wasn't meant to mean anything more than... It's weird. There's a dude on his knees in front of another and I'm not sure I get what they're trying to say fully.

Did you decide to interpret it as a freed slave rising up because the BLM protesters didn't like it, or because you thought I saw it in a negative light?
