Yeah, weird is a neutral term but if not neutral it's also used with positive connotations.

"Aunt Betty, your food tastes weird and I mean that in a positive sense."

"Jeff, that inflammation on your hand looks pretty weird but don't worry that's a good thing."

Sh$ts weird sometimes.
