So...the "fact checkers" say:

"Anti-Defamation League spokesman Todd Gutnik acknowledged in a statement that some individuals and organizations within the movement are spreading anti-Semitic rhetoric and "that raises serious concerns." But the league praised Black Lives Matter overall as the largest civil rights movement in at least 50 years.

"It is important to separate fact from fiction around claims that the huge, decentralized, nationwide Black Lives Matter as a whole is anti-Semitic or anti-Israel, or that it is part of the Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions campaign against Israel. It is none of these," the league statement said."

Black Lives Matter Paterson condemns the ongoing violence against Palestinians in East Jerusalem by the state of Israel and stands in solidarity with those fighting occupation. We as an organization believe in the freedom to worship and a life free from fear of expulsion and violence. The scenes coming out of the Al-Aqsa Mosque, where Israeli soldiers are using excessive force against Palestinian worshippers, harkens to our struggle against a repressive state apparatus. BLM Paterson also condemns the current situation in the Sheikh Jarrah enclave where Israeli settlers are forcibly evicting residents from their ancestral homes.

Our deep roots of solidarity are part of a rich tradition of mutual support and exchange between Palestine and US-based liberation movements, from the Black Panthers to the most recent communication between activists in Gaza and Ferguson, MO. Our struggles are connected in many ways, not least because the same Israeli forces forcibly expelling the original inhabitants of Sheikh Jarrah train repressive police forces around the world, including the US.

We stand together with our Muslim brothers and sisters during the holy month of Ramadan and demand that Senator Cory Booker, Senator Robert Menendez, our 12 US Representatives from New Jersey, and the Biden Administration join us in condemning these senseless acts of violence and work to end the state of Israel’s campaign of terror against the Palestinian people. We demand that the 3.9 billion dollars in US aid earmarked for Israel be diverted to help the victims of violence being perpetrated against the Palestinian people. The People United will never be defeated!

Black Lives Matter and its supporters are ripping into Biden for police remark in his State of the Union speech

The official account for the "Black Lives Matter" movement and many of its supporters lashed out at President Joe Biden after he proclaimed that Democrats would help fund the police in his State of the Union speech.

Biden emphatically renounced the "Defund the Police" movement in his speech and most Democrats applauded his statement.

"Proven strategies like community violence interruption, trusted messengers, breaking the cycle of violence and trauma, and giving young people some hope," said Biden.

"We should all agree the answer is not to defund the police, it's to fund the police!" he added.

"Fund them! Fund them!" Biden continued during the applause. "Fund them with resources and training! Resources and training they need to protect our communities!"

Not all were pleased at the policy announcement.

The official BLM account posted a frowning photograph of Rep. Maxine Waters (D-Calif.) in response to Biden's statement.

Others were far more strident in their excoriation of Biden.

"Fund the police? F*** you, Joe Biden. I f***ing hate this s***hole country," tweeted one user who identified himself as a communist.

"Love how Biden listed a bunch of bipartisan things he signed for many groups and then for black ppl was like, 'F*** YOUR MARCHES, More money for the police! Suck it blacks!' Real cool stuff," replied another commenter.

"lmao mask off ig this geriatric republican lite f***" read another tweet.

"Dude says we need to fund the police. He's an enemy of the people. Simple as that," replied Albert Corado, a candidate for the Los Angeles City Council.

"F*** off, Joe. The police are a corrupt, racist, transphobic, queerphobic institution. All cops are bastards," said another detractor.

Establishment centrist Democrats have blamed progressives and the "Defund the Police" movement for their relative losses in congressional and state races in the 2020 election. In one memorable incident, Democratic House Majority Whip James Clyburn of South Carolina said on MSNBC that the defund the police movement was "non-starter," even among black Americans, and called it a "chokehold around the Democratic party."
