We have much more federal timber around us, and fires on federal forest are left to burn until they reach a certain threshold. Also Willamette tends to have more consistent winds to push smoke East.

So far 64 of ~ 400 Napa wineries are in the evacuation zone.

Castello di Amorosa saved the castle but lost the attached farmhouse which stored all bottled wine.

Chateau Boswell destroyed.

Fairwinds Estate Winery, Hourglass Winery, Newton Vineyard, Paloma, Sterling Vineyards all serious damage.

Many others saved the winery but lost all the surrounding buildings.

Josh Cabernet Sauvignon

Prefer their merlot but this is what I has. Paired with New York strips, crab imperial, and roasted asparagus.

Serra Vineyards 2012 Cab Franc.

My favorite vineyard went out of business some time ago, they screwed members....then today I happen to be off and see an ad for our local Grocery Outlet Store which I’ve never been to for a wine sale. Apparently they bought all their old stock, I got 3 cases for $5 per bottle which used to retail for $55 ea

Stock up Frank, the season for Rose is at it's end. They will last for a while.

I will, really love them.

Opened a nice Primitivo yesterday, will finish over the weekend.
Trulli 2018. Had some with a few slices of a hard, dry manchego. Thinking I'll kill it with something in red sauce over the weekend. Haven't had a zin in ages as I've searched for lighter reds, so figured I'd give this pre-zin style a go with Winter approaching...
Very glad I did.

2013 Serra Cab Franc.

How was that Super Tuscan? Sometimes it’s more peppery than others.

I'm not a big fan of Sangiovese but it was a nice sipper. IMO it could have used more Cab Franc in the blend and it had almost no pepper notes to speak of. Would have been a great wine with a meal but we usually drink most wines separately for happy hour.
