people tried to overthrow an election.

there is nothing that has ever happened in our life times that should be brought up as a comparison.

Yup, we can all list dozens of public displays that began or ended in hideous violence. There are commonalities in the events.

But yesterday people tried to undo democracy.

nothing else compares. Not even the worst riots for the best reasons.

Viet Nam War protesters were not trying to overthrow the government.
Black people in the 60's or this year were not trying to overthrow the government.

Yesterday people tried to overthrow the government led by Trump.

Stop comparing it to any other group of people doing anything else involving protest with violence ensuing.
Overthrowing the government is not at all the same crime as violence erupting at protests.

When this gets pieced together it will look even worse than it does now. Our government was attacked from within. This is like defending Timothy McVeigh. Fortunately these folks were not as effective.

And yes there were folks on the mall that were not a full part of it.

They wanted trump not Biden, have been led to believe the election was stolen, were led to believe it could be changed, demanded the VP do so and were storming the capital while the electoral vote was being counted chanting hang mike pence. Along the way they killed a cop, hurt many others and ended up having a few others dead. Some breaking and entering (of the capital in session). There is much more to it but it’s pretty hard to leap minimize things.

Don’t care much about charges I’ll accept how they fall. They wanted to overthrow a valid election. It simply was and is their intend as well as their leader’s.

I do think the charges will be rougher and more expansive than your frat boy antics.
