it has been your opinion all along, that's true.
But I get the feeling it is based on general negative opinion of liberal politics (or maybe more specifically Democrats) and unfounded assumptions of mindset, rather than any knowledge of the mindset of many Liberals regarding the distinction between protest and violent/destructive crime.
The vast majority of the Summer's political activities were without violence of any level...the vast majority.
But the phrase "summer of terror" glosses over that and focuses exclusively on the heinous criminal activities that took place and should be aggressively prosecuted, while painting all of the protests with the same accusatory brush...even the vast majority of peaceful though leftish protests. Very few Americans are okay with criminal destruction of property for any reason.
Indicting all left of center along with the fringe actors is not a step up from those who would lump solid conservatives in with Nazis, white supremacists, et al.
It's ugly, very ugly and upsetting for me to see torch carrying young men chanting "The Jews will not replace us". At the same time I admire people like my father who fought in legitimate wars to protect our uncomfortable granting of their right to demonstrate...up until one of them drives a car into a counter protest crowd and a young woman gets killed. Up until that point I get an odd sense of pride that there may be no other place on Earth with the tolerance toward opposing political points of view...despite the chants that threaten my existence.
It's important to see the distinction in both right-of-center activities. It keeps me in the closer-to-center crowd that just might be able to end the threats posed by both fringes.
It's equally important to try to separate various left-of-center activities.

I stand by my comments. Albeit a generalization, there are scant few on the left that wanted to prosecute or even investigate the thuggery that took place last year. We were told it was the minority. You yourself are saying the vast majority were peaceful. And you're not wrong.
Here's the thing: I don't want the peaceful protestors investigated.
I want those who DID loot and burn and murder and trash and occupy and injure to be brought to justice.
The left were silent. Again and again. They embraced it. They claimed it was the most American thing they ever witnessed. Until a band of conservatives were coaxed into storming our Capitol. Suddenly law and order is of utmost import.
We all know that a few well-placed bad actors can incite the mob mentality. But it's a useless excuse, like telling the cop that "everyone" was going 80.
The left wanted NONE of the BLM criminals prosecuted. That's not opinion.
We often talk about hypocrisy. We point fingers and say "both sides do it".
But there is no equivalence here. Conservatives aren't fighting against arresting those who broke down the doors of our Capitol. They are wholly against letting Pelosi and Schumer make this a political exclamation point from a purely partisan and hate filled mission.
As for the torch bearing nazis? You let me know when their bigotry gains traction. Remember, the GOP are the ones defending Isreal in the middle east. Those inbred marchers speak for no-one but themselves, and their lot in life will be of no consequence to anyone outside their branchless family tree.
