OK, gas is down from the peak, but gas still isn't down. Pi$$ed me off that I feel relieved when gas falls below $4.

Whoever's responsible, be it Brandon, the Oompa Loompa, the current Russian czar, oil execs, or oil market prognosticators, they can all bite my f@#%ing a$$

Biden May Further Drain Strategic Petroleum Reserve

U.S. President Joe Biden’s administration is weighing the need for further releases of crude oil from the nation’s emergency stockpiles after the current program ends in October, Energy Secretary Jennifer Granholm told Reuters on Thursday.

A Department Of Energy official later said the White House was not considering new releases from the U.S. Strategic Petroleum Reserve (SPR) at this time beyond the 180 million barrels that the president announced months ago.

The Biden administration this year has delivered about 1 million barrels of oil per day from SPR stockpiles to lower fuel prices and pare energy inflation ahead of midterm elections in November.

The releases so far this year have helped knock average U.S. retail gasoline prices down to $3.75 a gallon this week from $5 a gallon in June. But they also have cut U.S. emergency stocks to below 450 million barrels, lowest since 1984.

OPEC and its allies led by Russia on Monday agreed to a small oil production cut beginning next month to bolster prices that have slid on fears of an economic slowdown.

It is “a little early to say to say that there is going to be more SPR releases,” said Abhiram Rajendran, head of global oil at Energy Intelligence. “But if OPEC starts getting aggressive on cutting supply, that’s a possibility.”

The nation’s overall crude stocks have been declining since mid-2020 due to sales from congressional mandates and Biden’s price initiative.

Without the SPR releases, U.S. commercial crude oil inventories “would be much lower than they are and they are already below average,” said Phil Flynn, an analyst at Price Futures Group.

Granholm also said during a visit to Houston on Thursday that the administration and allies are still discussing a cap on prices for Russian oil purchases. A price cap would restrict revenues available to Russia amid its invasion of Ukraine.

The administration has not ruled out a U.S. fuel export ban, but said it is “certainly not something on top of the list,” she said.

Granholm recently wrote to U.S. refiners urging them to replenish low fuel inventories ahead of winter and to curb rising exports of gasoline and diesel. The letter warned the administration may take unspecified emergency measures if fuel stocks fell further.

BJs out here is a sports bar. Though $3.41 is pretty good for a beer at a sports bar

The ONLY reason why prices are going down. Draining of the Strategic Petroleum Reserves. It was bought and filled under Trump at prices under 2.00. The cost to partially refill his underhandedness...all you need to know is it's all a political stunt at our expense. There is still NO FREE LUNCH.

Biden Draining SPR Like "Campaign Credit Card" For Midterms

President Biden's reckless draining of the US Strategic Petroleum Reserve is nothing more than an election-year gimmick akin to using a 'credit card' to buy votes, according to Tim Stewart, president of the US Oil and Gas Association.

According to data from the Department of Energy, stocks of crude oil in the SPR hit their lowest levels since 1984 for the week ending Sept. 16.

"This is the first time in history, honestly, that the Strategic Petroleum Reserve has been used as a campaign credit card to buy down political risk for the midterms," Stewart told Just the News.

"Let me put it in perspective if I could," he continued. "At the current rate, the U.S. is selling more oil out of its emergency reserves than the production of most medium-sized OPEC countries like Algeria or Angola. We're selling twice as much per day than we're producing out of Alaska. That puts us somewhere between Exxon and Conoco in terms of ... the impact we're having on the daily supply — and this is happening without new oil going into replace it."

The conversation then turned to 'energy expert' Hunter Biden, who host John Solomon asked for Stewart's reaction to "the idea that the president's son ... could be working behind the scenes quietly to take our great energy wealth, send it over to China, while the boss, the president, the 'Big Guy' that they refer to in the documents, he's trying to lower our reliance [on fossil fuels] and keep us from using our energy wealth here."

Stewart, who noted that the oil and gas trading industry is "very, very complex," replied: "I've been in this business for 25 years or so. And I can tell you, I am no more qualified to be a trader or a broker than an influence-peddling son of a former vice president. [Hunter Biden] had nothing to offer except for access, and access to his father, who in turn could make a call. And that's really what's wrong with Washington right now. And that is why this story is so so troubling to many of us."

Stewart decried the "sheer hypocrisy" of Joe Biden "spending decades beating up on the oil and gas industry, profiting by it for that four years when he's not in public office, and then coming back in and trying to to hamstring and to kneecap our industry again." -JTN
