TeeDubya,

When Hugo came to town, me and some friends had a "Hurricane Party" at my apartment on Tybee Island just at the coast in Savannah, GA. It was supposed to hit us. Instead it turned north and wiped out Charlston.

The next day, when I flew up to Charlston for the relief missions (my old helicopter days), I took a look around as we were surveying the damage, and thought to myself....."what the f*ck were you thinking last night, you idiot!"

I'm there adroomi.

I lived in Des Moines during the flood of 93... at one time we were the largest US city to ever lose our water supply (not to mention power etc).

The night the levy's started to go (I am not proud of this) my buddies and I were drinking Wild Turkey and watching people sandbag..... we knew it was pointless, but none the less what a bunch of aholes we were.

The next several weeks without water changed my perspective quite a bit.

I can not get my tiny brain to comprehend how much bigger this thing is than the Des Moines disaster..... I am also shocked by the response of some. Unreal.

teedubbya,

I hear ya!!.. I think all in all this storm will make many people think next time for sure!! Hind sight is always 20/02 from our perspective.. and i personally have been pretty stauch on the whole thing. I just wonder....????? will anyone learn??? If faced with another storm, or disaster... will we see the same reaction from the people AGAIN??? Lets hope not... only time will tell.
