One in eight men will be diagnosed with prostate cancer.

That is awful. Know a guy in his mid seventies how has had prostate cancer for several years. He has a slow growing version. Doc told him he'll die of something else first.

Reassuring? Don't know.

Obviously happy you are still around. The friend of mine had an experimental thing done on him. He said he had his prostate "fried". Left that conversation right there.

The Earth was here before the moon.
Prior to the moon, a day was approximately 6 hours long.
Once the moon appeared, it slowed the spin to 24 hours a day.

If you have one of the newer cars with push button start, according to Click&Clack, thieves can hack your key fob to a device and use it to open and start your car.

True story... but they sell these key fob RFID blockers to prevent that.

The earth gains about 40K metric tons of weight each year from space dust and meteorites falling.

And stuff.

Not recently acquired random worthless info but just something to add to the thread.

One of the longest location names resides in southern MA near the RI border. For simplicity it's known as Webster Lake (in Webster MA)

The historical name of the lake is Lake Chargoggagoggmanchauggagoggchaubunagungamaugg.

Rough English translation is ‘English knifemen and Nipmuck Indians at the boundary or neutral fishing place’.

Local modern translation evolved into "You fish on your side, I'll fish on my side, and no one shall fish in the middle"

Worked with a guy way back in the late 1990's. He lived in the area and had a nice bass boat and I'd go fishing with him. He could rip off the name like nobody's business. I could never master it.
