Doing a deep dive in his discography. There's so much more here than just the hits. Digging it.

Closed the window, turned on the a/c, closed the door and fired up the stereo. Put on a mixed CD that starts out with 4 Steely Dan songs. “Reelin’ in the Years”, “Bodhisattva”, “Show Biz Kids” and “My Old School.” Turned the volume up to an acceptable level but gonna slowly see how much is too much for the wife.

Edit: A few minutes ago, for s&g, I used my MIL’s shower chair to elevate one of the speakers and damn! what a difference! Then used a footstool for the other one and while it’s not as high, having both off the floor has made a world of difference. I’m gonna have to get really serious about making or getting some stands.

Edit #2: the last song on the disc is “High Tides and Green Grass”. As soon as I heard the first chords I immediately thought of Bill…. 😢

Rumor spreadin' 'round
In that Texas town
About that shack outside La Grange
And you know what I'm talkin' about
Just let me know if you wanna go
To that home out on the range
They got a lot of nice girls
Have mercy
A-haw, haw, haw, haw
A-haw, haw, haw, haw
Well, I hear it's fine
If you got the time
And the ten to get yourself in
A-hmm, hmm
And I hear it's tight
Most every night
But now I might be mistaken
Hmm, hmm, hmm
Have mercy

Sometimes ya just gotta air it out and let it fly. When we clean our house on Sunday, it's "dealer's choice" and when you tire of the other's playlist its your turn.

Keeping this thread alive is like Bill is here. I miss him too. More for the stuff we'd talk about over the phone and then type here but still...he really was a one of a kind kinda guy.

Jazz Sabbath - Jazz Sabbath

I know, I know...didn't know what to make of it...till I realized the piano is mainly covering Iommi and Ozzy's parts. The drumming simply stellar. The double bass walking some of Butler's most famous licks in eights...very tasty and held my ears hostage.
