What will it cost us to refill the Strategic Petroleum Reserve after Biden drained it?

We’re finally getting an answer to a question that we’ve been posing here for more than a year. Does Joe Biden ever plan on replenishing that nation’s Strategic Petroleum Reserve, now that he’s drained it down to levels not seen since Jimmy Carter was in office? Thankfully, the answer appears to be yes, though it’s going to take time, not to mention a tremendous amount of money. In February, Biden will order a delivery of three million barrels of oil to be pumped back into the reserve. That may sound like a lot, but keep in mind that Biden released almost 200 million barrels from the SPR over the past year. Replenishing it by three million barrels at a time is going to take many years. And that assumes that there will be enough oil available. (Politico)

The Energy Department will start with an initial request for 3 million barrels, asking companies for the barrels to be delivered in February, an official said.

The Biden administration is planning to begin refilling the Strategic Petroleum Reserve, a senior administration official said Friday, marking the end to the massive supply releases that the White House ordered to tame the sharp price spikes earlier this year.

President Joe Biden had ordered the Energy Department to begin releases from the reserve last year, and he sharply ramped up those sales after Russia invaded Ukraine in February — sending crude oil prices soaring and driving up gasoline to record levels.

That oil isn’t going to be free, by the way. The taxpayers will be on the hook for it as usual. And the price tag will be far higher than it ever should have been. Traditionally, we buy oil for the SPR when supplies are plentiful and prices are low. In February, oil prices are projected to be roughly $75 per barrel. Most of the oil that was drained out of the reserve was purchased for half as much. Doing a bit of calculating on the back of a cocktail napkin will reveal that we’ve just managed to lose roughly 7 billion dollars by the time the reserve is back up to where it was before Biden got hold of it.

And for what? The SPR is supposed to be there for use in the event of an actual emergency when a region simply can’t get enough oil to meet its critical needs. There was no such emergency in the United States over the past year. The SPR was flushed just so Biden could try to keep gas prices a little lower in the run-up to an election. And even that was a failure because those releases barely put a dent in the price of gas. Now, with the election behind us, the President is apparently willing to consider refilling the reserve.

If all of the oil had been put to good use in the United States, perhaps it wouldn’t be such a bad situation, but the President actually authorized selling some of it to other countries… including China. Has anyone in the press corps ever even tried to get him to explain how and why all of this happened?

This is all part of what American Petroleum Institute president and CEO Mike Sommers correctly described as the politicization of the Strategic Petroleum Reserve. That oil is supposed to be there for use during a legitimate emergency. And we may be facing such an emergency in the northeast either this winter or next winter if we don’t get our production levels up and our energy supply chain challenges under control.

Joe Biden and his team were convinced that voters would be angry about the price of gasoline and potentially vote for Republicans as a result. If they think the voters were upset over that, just wait and see how they react if people literally start freezing to death in New Hampshire. When a government reaches the point where it can’t even keep its people alive anymore, you don’t actually have a government.

If you were the first person to break, for arguments sake, let's say 10 world records. Then you'd break the world record for world records, which makes 11. Which breaks your old record and you now have 12 and so on. You'd now have infinite world records

Biden administration to send Patriot missile system to Ukraine

The Biden administration will send to Ukraine the most advanced air defense weapon in its arsenal, the Patriot missile system, a senior administration official said late Tuesday, marking the most significant addition to American military support for the government in Kyiv in months.

The new weapons package will bring the total amount of military support for Ukraine approved by the Biden administration to about $22 billion.

The Patriot is to be included in a new $2 billion package of weapons that President Biden plans to unveil Wednesday, marking the visit of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky to Washington, said the official, who spoke to reporters on the condition of anonymity in advance of a formal announcement.

The visit, during which Zelensky will visit Biden at the White House and address a joint session of Congress, comes as Russia carries out a relentless campaign of airstrikes on Ukraine’s civilian infrastructure and electrical grid, which has plunged much of the country into darkness.

Ukraine is to receive one Patriot battery, which has up to eight launchers each that hold between four and 16 missiles, depending on the type of munition used. U.S. forces will train Ukrainians to operate and maintain the system in a third country, probably Germany. “This will take some time,” the official said, “but Ukrainian troops will take that training back to their country to operate this battery.” It is unlikely that the air defense system will arrive in Ukraine before spring.

The new weapons package will bring the total amount of military support for Ukraine approved by the Biden administration to about $22 billion.

Zelensky has sought the Patriot system for months, as Russia carries out a barrage of lethal strikes that have extended well beyond military targets, according to U.S. and Ukrainian assessments, and left much of the country without electricity, heat and running water. After months of refusing those entreaties, in recent weeks senior administration officials recommended to Biden that the air defense system be sent to Kyiv.

First used in combat during the Gulf War to take out Iraqi Scud missiles, the Patriot system relies on a sophisticated radar to find incoming threats, including cruise and ballistic missiles, and launches long-range missiles to intercept them. Typically deployed on the back of a truck, it requires a crew of at least three soldiers to operate, with extensive backup needed to keep it functional.

The United States has about 90 troops assigned to a typical Patriot battery. Patriot-launched missiles can fly to altitudes as high as 79,000 feet, with an operational range of up to 100 miles, depending on the ammunition.

A single battery costs about $1 billion, and missiles can run several million dollars each. The systems, produced by Raytheon, are in great demand and short supply, currently in use in about 16 countries. The battery supplied to Ukraine will probably be transferred from systems already deployed in Europe.

The Patriot system will join a growing array of other modern air defense systems that Ukraine has received from Western nations since the Russian invasion. The United States last month sent two National Advanced Surface-to-Air Missile Systems, or NASAMS, and signed a $1.2 billion deal to build and provide six more over the next two years.

Earlier in the war, the United States also brokered a deal with Slovakia, a NATO ally, to send its only S-300 air defense system to Ukraine. In exchange, NATO has deployed Patriot units to Slovakia. The Pentagon also has sent surface-to-air missiles known as HAWKs, short for Homing All the Way Killer. The missiles are used for air defense and fired from launchers that Spain provided Ukraine.

Zelensky’s trip is designed to solidify ongoing U.S. support for Ukraine, particularly during the difficult winter ahead. “This week is extremely important for Ukraine — in order to get through this winter and next year,” Zelensky said Tuesday in his nightly address to the country.

“We will definitely endure,” he said. “We will definitely get the necessary support for Ukraine.”

The administration anticipates bipartisan congressional passage of more than $40 billion in additional funding for Ukraine for 2023, the senior official said. Biden “will reinforce the fundamental message on this trip, to President Zelensky, directly to the Ukrainian people, the American people and the world publicly, that the United States will stand with Ukraine for as long as it takes,” the official said.

“This isn’t about sending a message to a particular political party,” the official said. “This is about sending a message to [Russian President Vladimir] Putin and sending a message to the world that America will be there for Ukraine for as long as it takes.”

China's Deal With Saudi Arabia Is A Disaster For Biden

Nothing better illustrates the utter ineptitude of the Biden administration's dealings with the Middle East than Saudi Arabia's decision to forge a strategic alliance with China.

This is a time when Washington should be working overtime to strengthen its ties with long-standing allies like the Saudis to combat the mounting threat Iran poses to the region's security.

Apart from the deeply alarming progress the ayatollahs are said to be making with their efforts to produce nuclear weapons,

The new "axis of evil" that has been formed between Moscow and Tehran in recent months means Iran will soon be taking delivery of state-of-the-art Russian warplanes to add to its military arsenal.

In what both the White House and Downing Street described as "sordid deals" between the two countries, Iran is due to take delivery of Russian Su-35 fighter jets next year as well as other advanced military equipment and components, including helicopters and air defence systems. In return Iran is providing Russia with hundreds of its Shahed-131 and Shahed-136 so-called kamikaze drones, which self-destruct on hitting their target.

As US National Security Council spokesman John Kirby explained at a briefing in Washington, Moscow has "offered Iran an unprecedented level of military and technical support", which "transforms their relationship into a full defense partnership".

Biden administration officials added that Iranian pilots were already being trained in Russia on how to fly the Su-35 fighter.

By any standard, the deepening military cooperation between Russia and Iran should serve as a wake-up call to the Biden administration to redouble its efforts to reaffirm its commitment to key allies in the region such as the Saudis, who are committed to resisting any attempt by Tehran to expand its malign influence in the region.

Riyadh's determination to resist Iran's aggressive conduct was reflected in recent comments made by Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan Al Saud who warned that "all bets are off" if Iran succeeds in its goal of acquiring an operational nuclear weapon.

"We are in a very dangerous space in the region... you can expect that regional states will certainly look towards how they can ensure their own security," he said.

Riyadh's robust approach to Iran's bellicose conduct is exactly the sort of response Washington needs to see from its allies as it faces up to the Iranian threat. Yet, thanks to the Biden administration's wilful neglect of its relations with the Saudis, Riyadh is instead looking to build a partnership with Beijing, as was evident from the lavish reception given to Chinese President Xi Jinping during his state visit to the kingdom this month.

Rarely has a visiting leader been the recipient of such lavish state pageantry as Xi after Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman spared no effort to afford the Chinese leader a warm welcome, which included a jet escort on his arrival.

During his three-day visit, Xi held extensive talks with the Crown Prince, Saudi Arabia's de facto ruler, as well as other senior Saudi officials and signed a strategic partnership agreement that will deepen ties between Riyadh and Beijing on a range of issues, from defence to technology.

One particularly eye-catching aspect of the agreement was a deal with the Chinese tech giant Huawei to supply the Saudis with cloud computing services and allow "high-tech" complexes to be built in Saudi cities, according to Saudi officials.

Huawei has been designated a potential security threat by the US, with intelligence officials claiming that the company has close links to China's ruling Communist Party and could be used to conduct spying operations.

That Riyadh is now moving away from its traditional alliance with the US and strengthening its ties with Beijing is a strategic disaster of epic proportions, and serves as a damning indictment of the Biden administration's careless treatment of the Saudis, for which the president is personally to blame.

Biden set the tone for his strained relationship with the Saudi royal family during the 2020 presidential election contest when he denounced the kingdom as a "pariah" state over its involvement in the murder of Saudi dissident Jamal Khashoggi in Istanbul in 2018, although there has never any audible distress from the Biden administration over Iran's 2007 abduction and presumed death of ex-FBI agent Robert Levinson.

Russia's invasion of Ukraine, though, forced Biden to rethink his attitude towards the Saudis when it suddenly dawned on him that he needed the Saudis to increase oil supplies to ease the pressure on global prices.

His efforts achieved little: the Saudis were apparently unimpressed with Biden greeting the Crown Prince with a fist-bump when he visited the kingdom in the summer, and he came away empty-handed, with the Saudis and other Gulf states ignoring his plea to increase oil production.

Apart from being dismayed about Biden's obsession with reviving the controversial nuclear deal with Tehran, which they regard as a flawed agreement -- it allows the Iranian regime soon to build as many nuclear weapons as it likes as well, as the ballistic missiles to deliver them -- the Saudis and other Gulf leaders are unhappy with the lack of support they have received from Washington over the constant threat they face from Iranian-backed Houthi rebels in Yemen, whom Secretary of State Antony Blinken removed from the US list of Foreign Terrorist Organizations just a few weeks into Biden's term, and who since then regularly fired Iranian-made missiles and drones into Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates.

Now, thanks to Biden's incompetent management of the US-Saudi relationship, Riyadh is looking to China to protect its interests, a move that confirms the alarming decline in US influence in the region that has taken place under the vacuum in Biden's leadership.

The Divider-in-Chief dissed Jesus again this year for CHRISTMAS

Instead, he lamented about the political divisions that he himself blatantly stoked with his Dark Brandon messages. He said “Our politics has gotten so angry, so mean, so partisan. And too often we see each other as enemies, not as neighbors; as Democrats or Republicans, not as fellow Americans. We’ve become too divided,” and other weasel talk like “I sincerely hope this holiday season will drain the poison that has infected our politics and set us against one another,” and “I hope this Christmas season marks a fresh start for our nation, because there is so much that unites us as Americans, so much more that unites us than divides us.”

Pres. Biden Omitted ‘Jesus’ and ‘Christ’ from Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony for 2nd Straight Year – But, Trump Didn’t

This year, when President Joe Biden spoke at his second annual White House Christmas tree lighting ceremony, he neglected to mention either “Christ” or “Jesus,” just as he did last year.

Not until the last two sentences of his remarks, did he wish Americans a “Merry Christmas” and mention “God” (“God bless you.”)

At the 2021 Christmas tree lighting ceremony, on December 2, Biden did actually commemorate a birthday: that of his Interior Secretary, not that of Jesus Christ (“It is wonderful to join you here on your birthday, Madam Secretary. Happy birthday”).

In contrast, at his last Christmas tree lighting ceremony in 2019, President Donald Trump reminded Americans of the Christian heritage and beliefs that Christmas trees represent:
