I'll probably get nailed for this but... I love some rap, I admit it's not nearly as intricate or engaging as a lot of other music, but some of the beats are so rhythmically engaging. Especially Busta Rhymes, Ludicris, and Timbaland...

I guess you can say I have eclectic tastes...

Nothing like drudging up an old thread...

True metalhead here... not the watered down crap you hear on the radio, either. Napalm Death, Morbid Angel, Slayer (whoo!!!), Pantera... basically anything with lots of of double bass, extreme tempos, and Cookie Monster vocals.

But then I'm also heavily into blues and bebop jazz... Miles (natch...), Coltrane, Wes Montgomery, Joe Pass, Wayne Shorter, Dos Alberts (King and Collins), Stevie Ray, etc, etc... But as of late I've been on a real southern rock kick. Skynyrd, Molly Hatchet, Allmans, can't get enough. Amazing how diverse your tastes get when you play an instrument (guitarist).

Anywhoo, just thought I'd add my 2 pesos if for no other reason than to be annoying...

Get up, you d*mn horse! (wham!) I said get up! (wham! thump! wham!)

Heck..lets see if we can get it to 100.

I grew up on rock. As a little kid listening to my sister's favorite Jefferson Airplane and Bob Dylan.

My taste developed in the mid late 70's. My favorite groups still are Styx, Pink Floyd, Kansas, Zepellin, Journey (Bay Area boy), Yes, Gary Wright, Van Halen, ACDC and Black Sabbath. I frequently play the heck out of one of these groups for months at a time.

I have rather broad tastes now. Depending on the mood...anything goes.

I resemble that remark...and I don't think I am that old.

Funny....I like them better now than I did then. I was always afraid to have my car windows open and have Andy Gibb blaring out "Stayin Alive Stayin Alive!" for my friends to overhear.

But even at my advanced age, I can tell the difference between Rob Zombie, Tool, and Korn.

A couple friends of mine and I went to the Tool show in KC a few days ago (got in free since we had connections with the promotion company). We only went to see Meshuggah open up for them (now THERE'S a band! Whoah!), and split afterwards, since none of us really cared about Tool that much (mope-rock never did much for me).

A friend and I went to see Tool in Richmond a few months back. I totally agree. It was a fantastic show, except for the opening act......Tomahawk. They totally got booed off the stage.

After watching Josh Groban sing the National Antheim at start of Game 2, I grabbed a CD by him and he is damn great! Give a listen to this guy, and you will be pleased......rap fans and hip hoppers stay clear!
