Yes.

I shocked two people last night. Not with an automated one, a real one. But I've used an aed twice in public.

Was watching videos of the three step version. Must be the automated one.

What weirds me out was the instruction of “remove clothing from areas where the sticky patches are to be placed”.
Does something bad happen if the zap button is pressed and a patch is touching clothing?

I’m all for helping some in that situation, but my brain went right to significant downsides. And as I’ve learned from Frank, a deal is only as good as the downside. To start, the patient is female.

Lifting up a woman’s shirt is a 98.2% non starter. As a straight white guy, I can feel the lawsuit happening.

If courageous enough to lift the shirt, there is often a bra next.
- Don’t remove the bra: If the sticky patch from the AED touches the fabric, she goes up in smoke.
- Remove the bra: Now you look like half a rapist with possible charges pending while trying to do the right thing.

How whacked is my thought process?

At the moment, I’d follow exactly what the instructions suggest if the patient is male.
If female, it is safer to simply get out of dodge.

In a similar vein, I decided to change my diet. Cutting out or reducing dairy and going back to only fruits for breakfast. A few other lifestyle changes but one of the things I’m going to greatly reduce is chips…as in potato and yes, even OTC! So should I start packing my bags? 😰

I’m with ya. If it’s a female just tell her “Cross over. All are welcome. Go into the light.”

8. You're overthinking it. If they need an aed they're essentially dead. Youre not using it unless cpr is already started. Theres a slim chance you might be able to get em back with early defibrillation. Clothing goes away because pads need to be on skin. Lateral or posterior pad needs to go where the bras circumferential strap resides. Knife out cut it off.

Men are actually a little more difficult if they're hairy. Gotta open 2 sets of pads, use the first one for a quick waxing job, then apply the new ones. Machine can't analyze rhythm effectively with hair in the way. Also if you need to shock em, can cause burns and won't discharge as much energy through the chest.

Morning gents. Looking forward to today. My oldest grandson has challenged me to a golf match so we tee it up at 9:30. I'm not sure he has played much golf but neither have I recently. Pretty sure this is going to be just a "grip it and rip it" kinda round for us both but great bonding time since he has lived in the Seattle area most of his life and we have not gotten to know each other much.

He doesn't smoke but I'm taking a few along in case he wants to join the old man.

Good Tuesday Morning! It's a foggy 31° on the way to 58° today. Headed to the range today, getting ready for a match Saturday.

Lost power at the circus (Wally World) last night around 7:30 PM. Scrambled to get all the chilled and frozen goods off the floor and in the main freezers. Sat in the dark for 2.5 hours doing nothing after that.

About a third of the outskirts of town is without electricity. Many of the smaller surrounding towns are out of power too, some areas haven't had power going on two days now.

We'll be throwing away a ton of meat, produce and frozen goods tonight unless they can get a refrigerator truck in to try to save some of it. I say we just put all that $hit in shopping carts and put them outside since it's freezing out. Use mother nature as your freezer but that would prolly violate some board of heath regulations. Plus we can't donate a lot of the perishable stuff to the food banks either (kinda sad really, liability and board of health regulations).

Most of the perishable stuff will get sent to some pig farm somewhere and be "recycled" by the pigs to make bacon, ham, and sausage.
