I was told to pour 8 ounces of vinegar down the drain line every other month. Let it sit for 5-10 minutes... chase it with a couple liters of hot water and vacuum it out with a shop vac from the outside. Been doing that and so far so good.

Fortunately for me, my HVAC system is in a closet in the kitchen. Easy to get to, easy to work on, and surrounded by AC. 😁
