This past winter, I helped a friend migrate her stuff from her old "all in one" iMac to more updated machine and she gave me her old one (model A1224, mid 2009 version). I used it to play around with Linux again. I think I like the interface from Mint slightly better than Ubuntu.

Two seven NINE!

Mint is so far the best. That said, I fired up the old hackintosch and it still the faster than the Mac Mini, prolly the Nvidia video card but the Macbook M2 is still a litle faster. I may try a Linux installation on that box next. The AMD chip and older Nvida card in the box I'mcurrently playing with is just a little off, I think it wants to retire.

A previous employer some 10 yrs ago was upgrading all their computers and tossed out a ton of Dell Optiplex desktops and towers, I snagged a bunch of them out of the dumpster. (IT guy couldn't give them to me straight out right but said once it hit the dumpster, it's off his books and fair game). Probably grabbed about 10 of them along with some monitors, RAM, hard drives... just to frank around with. Reinstall OS, add RAM, mix and match the drives and such then donate to friends and some non-profit places like Boys and Girls clubs.

I kept a couple, one is still running as a media center on the home network (music, TV shows, movies) using Plex app/software.

Another one is a play and fart around with thing. I did the the hackintosh to it. It took a little time of trial and error to get all the hardware drivers to work but once I did, lost interest. Haven't fired it up in like 9 months of so.

My engineer DNA mentality is to keep franking with things to make it better... if it ain't broke... "fix" it until you break it (test the boundaries). Then learn on how you broke it and fix it again - make it better then when you started. When things are running smooth, find something else that needs "fixing."

I don't like chaos but embrace challenges.

LOL, I used to buy Microsoft Actions Packs. They included server OS I thought I'd never actually install until a friend that administers servers for a local company offered several IBM rack mounted servers and SCSI disk arrays. More heft than power with a noise level and a current draw to match. I did learn a lot and when I got tired of playing I ended up with a bunch of neodymium magnets from the SCSI drives.

I could go for some potato skins with bacon right about now. You buying?

Two ate NINE!

Apple crisp in the oven. Frank me though, we don't have any ice cream to go with it. Might have to hop on the e-bike and buzz down to the the grocery store for half a gallon of vanilla bean ice cream.

One of the all-time greats! If only he hadn’t gotten hooked on the “H”. 🤬

Btw, I believe his nickname is just “Bird”.

I spent 8 hours on the ocean yesterday! About 5 of them fishing. Caught my limit (5) of Vermilion snapper, caught a red snapper which I had to throw back because the fkn season is literally 2 days, and I saw a large cobia get caught as well as a large barracuda.

The barracuda was probably 50 lbs. Dude was bringing up a bottom fish he'd hooked and the barracuda ate it and hooked himself. lol

Good Tuesday Morning to All! It's a cloudy 60° on the way to 75° today. No range time, waiting for a roofing contractor to show up. A new leak showed up after a recent storm. 😣
