New apartment (It's actually a triple decker which are common in the New England area). Rent doesn't include snow removal. I hate shoveling. Talked with the neighbor downstairs and he has a snow blower but it crapped out on him half way through last winter so all three floors pitched in to shovel out or they called for a plow guy to do the driveway. However, since it was mid winter and the plow guy was already booked for the snow storms the house was lower on the totem pole for getting plowed out.
I have a lead on a couple of snow blowers from some guy in town that does small engine repair as a side job. I wasn't actively looking at this time but a friend sent me the lead. The small engine guy seems trustworthy. We texted back and forth and he has 2 blowers that he's looking to sell: a Craftsman and a Husqvarna. His asking price is a couple hundred bucks for each.
He did a tune up and routine maintenance on them over the summer but the owners moved and told him to just keep the snow blowers. He wants to get them out of his garage and get rid of them. He says both fire up on the first pull and run smooth. The Husqvarna also has electric start but it needs a needs a shear pin on one of the augers (no big deal). The Craftsman is a bit smaller and he says it also fires right up on first pull but doesn't have electric start. No biggie for me, but I think I'll go for the Husqvarna. I think both of them use Briggs & Stratton engines.
Prolly go check them out this weekend and if all is well and good, just pay him cash. Then I'll have to touch base with a friend that has a pickup truck to go get it and bring it home.
Or I could just "drive" it home. His house is about a mile away. Fire that bitch up and drive it or ride it home (if it has self driving wheels, strap a lawn chair on it for the ride but I'd have to get off to stop at cross walks and make turns and stuff). That would be funny... crossing through my little downtown this Saturday or Sunday "driving" a snowblower while smoking a cigar.
I don't think that it's illegal do so.
Awkward? Yes!
People looking at me with the WTF face? Yes.
Rather humorous? Yes.
Cops would probably stop me and send me to the hospital for a psychological evaluation.
It'd be like a Saturday Night Live skit
