90/74 today with only 69% humidity- a very rare, early beginning-of-Fall day for us as September is usually still very hot and humid. Sadly, it won't last

Going to swim laps with my wife, then to Costco and the then finally will get to layabout all day watching college footbal and maybe some UFC fights tonight.

We'll see...

Good Saturday Afternoon to All! It's 85° with humidity just 57%.

Late posting today, we spent several hours in the ER last night. My wife was having trouble focusing and a problem with simple tasks. I felt something was wrong and took her to the ER. After several tests inclufing an MRi of her head, the labs shoed she has a urinary track infection, (UTI). In older patients a UTI can cause a form of temporary dementia.

Smart, Gene. My dad had UTI after UTI. We thought stroke. Better safe than sorry. Plus you get the right meds going.

I hope and pray that those that have medical issues will recover.

It must be something in the air or maybe the phase of the moon.

Got a call at 3 AM last night/morning that my Dad had to be taken to the hospital. He conked his head and blacked out for a few minutes (what the hell is he doing up at 2 AM?). Head started bleeding. Mom called 911. They were in the hospital for the day while they did MRI and CT scan and it turned out OK. Put a pressure bandage on his head to stop the bleeding. He was lectured to use a walker to get around the house (yeah, that ain't gonna happen).

I want to move back home to WI to help take care of them on a daily basis. Buy or rent a house in their neighborhood. $hit, I'd live in their basement if I have to. My parents say that they are fine, brother and cousins live close to them. They say I should to stay in MA,since kids come first and should not uproot them. I agree with that last part but I it pains me that I'm not geographically closer to them..

Tomorrow is another day . I can't change the past nor predict the future. Just feel guilty that I'm a time zone away.

Thunderstorms are close by. No rain yet but I hear the angles bowling to the west of me. Probably 30 min away.

Good sleeping weather tonight. For some strange reason I have an urge to watch "The Outlaw Josey Wales". Its one of my favorite movies and, in my opinion, one of Clint Eastwood's best movies (he has a ton of them).

Don’t put unnecessary pressure on your shoulders. Your parents are right.
What is he doing up at 2:00 a.m.? Probably emptying his bladder for the second or third time.

Answer to the first statement: I will take that as advice and will do my best to listen to my parents and others. It still doesn't wash away the feelings inside that I feel: not available to be there.

Answer to the next question: Yes he had to go pee and fell getting out of bed and did a face plant. Luckily is wasn't serious but the ambulance guys had to help him up to walk. Sounds morbid but I think it was a wake up for him that he needs to use the walker that he refused to use before.

Sadly, I think my Dad is on his way out in the coming year. I think he's cashing in his chips as his body breaks down which irritates me. "Dad, don't punt keep going."

Easy for me to say. I, personally, have not accepted it but I can't control it. That's on me.

On a positive note: I think I'll make some chicken parmesan for dinner tomorrow. I'll make enough for a couple servings of leftovers for lunch this week. It's nearly impossible for me to cook for one or two people. It's not in my DNA. Four people plus leftovers is typical serving size.

A lot of similarities. My dad stopped moving in his late 50s. Atrophied so much, the last 5 years, his step count per day was probably between 2 and 3 hundred. He welcomed full time catheter because he didn’t have to get up and pee six times a day.

In the end, old people and old dogs are similar. They look for a quiet place near or on rainbow bridge.

Greetings from the land of the midnight sun. Gonna be 44/54 in Anchorage and maybe sunny. Took a tour of the city after we arrived yesterday and drove around to some points of interest. Strange going to bed around 10 when it’s still light out.

The RAV4 rental is a hybrid and battery power off the line is interesting but it shuts down every time you stop at a light.

You can turn that feature off, DED. At least on my wife's RAV you can.

My gym is closed for renovations until November, but they gave 2 other options to use in the meantime. One is about the same distance from the house, but in the other direction. Turns out it's nicer... wonder if the "renovations" will fix that?
