I'm kinda embarrassed here...got a lotta heart felt sympathy from my CBid brothers due to scheduled surgery...I appreciate all your kind thoughts...

I went to the hospital, went into pre-op and was dressed in a hospital gown, lying on the hospital bed, hooked to an IV...before the anesthesiologist arrived, my Orthopedic doctor who scheduled the surgery back in June, came in to see me.

She asked how I felt and what was going on with my wrist and thumb...I told her that after she injected the area with cortisone back in June, the wrist and thumb has felt better and the pain was minimal...that was the purpose of the cortisone...to reduce the pain until surgery...I told her I could now do most things with my left hand but it isn't as strong as before....I demonstrated the flexibility by touching the tip of the thumb to the tips of the other fingers, which I was unable to do back in June.

She looked pleased and said that although she enjoyed doing surgery and had a lot of experience doing the procedure, she said my wrist and thumb seem to be much improved since my visit in June. She poked and prodded and agreed that a bone spur at the base of the thumb, which was prominent then has disappeared. She said in rare instances the bone and cartilage improve and fuse, resulting in less pain and improved function...and this could be the case. She said there was no guarantee that surgery would make things better, and there was a risk that it would make things worse. Her best advice at this time, what she would tell me if I were a family member, was to postpone the surgery for a while. She said if I need the surgery down the road, she would be ready.

I agreed, got dressed and left the hospital...relieved and hopeful the wrist and thumb remain healthy and relatively pain free.

Embarrassing? More like Amazing! You are blessed, Al.
This is a great second read to start the day (morning prayers before any Cbid silliness).
Thank you for the update.

Al, that doc is a keeper. Nice to see some in the profession put their patients before their pocketbook.

Master shower/bath tear-out is complete. Delivery of all fixtures and bathtub completed today as well.

Plumber comes Friday to re-route the shower and bath drain pipes and raise them up from the slab to the new height that will make the new tile level with the bathroom floor.

Next step will be raising shower and old tub floor with concrete from the slab to the same height as the of the bathroom floor.

Then comes hip walls, cement board, tile and grout. Last step will be replacing any drywall and texturing it to match the other walls..

Finally, we will get the bedroom re-painted.

Blew through my budget big-time. [ram27bat]

Can't wait until it is done!

I have been using the Thermo Pop for several years. The back light has failed and being a little older than Al things are are harder to see in low light conditions.

Good excuse to upgrade.

I've got good distance vision, still... up close I can't see a damn thing. And I don't care if I have readers on or not, the small print is just not possible any more.

43, feels like 39.
Early a.m. breakfast date with my old work wife.
Also, get to go to the DMV this morning. I’d rather have a cigar with Floridas own, DMV instead.
Sometime after that, will be checking on a friend post surgery. Getting holes drilled into his prostate.

Am grateful for a new day with new possibilities.

Have a blessed day brothers.
