No change of address... will be working from home 60-80% of the time... there will be some travel, which I don't mind.. big thing was the money plus bonus... can't deny that... current boss said the door is open if it doesn't work out.. so I got that going for me... 😟

Hospice is a good thing but when you bring your daddy home and they show up reality real starts to set in. I slept right beside mine and he had a breathing machine . To this day I can still hear that dam machine running . Dan sorry to hear about the pup even if you didn’t like it. Dam Delta sorry to hear brother. She will be in a better place . That’s what I have always been told. In today’s times that is definitely the truth. This world is turning into shot fast .

Somewhere, I missed you leaving. Knew you were changing to days, now you are gone all together?
Can you refer me to a post somewhere so I can get caught up without making you do a rehash for only my benefit?

Changing departments. And locker rooms. Leaving cardiac ICU to go to cardiac cath lab. Gonna work 5 days a week like a normal person. Plus a 24/7 on-call week once every 6 weeks or so. Might hate myself, might be worth it. Only way to find out is to try. $12k paycut right off the top switching from nights to days but they promised "unlimited overtime" so we'll see.

I have increased my tax advantaged contributions by whatever raise I get every year, so my take home has not really changed in 10 years. I can always cut back on that (currently almost 30% off the top) to cover the difference if the OT isn't sufficient.

It's the week on week off schedule I'm most worried about. It's been a great time with lots of time off but I can't do that schedule on days. I haven't done a M-F since 07. Also because of the ongoing short staffing issues that haven't improved in 4 years (I would say it's gotten progressively worse since they're no longer throwing money at us to bridge the gap and instead just telling us to do more with less) when I show up for work now, I don't know where I'm working. We get sent all over the hospital. At least in a procedure area I won't have to deal with that. On the other hand, there's no end time to my shifts. Only a start time. So I'll know where I'm working but not when I'm working.

I'm anxious and excited.

Mornin' dudes.

One of my neighbor's chickens is dead. Not sure what killed it, but Tank woke up at 0500 wanting to get out in the yard... so I went out with him and a Turkey vulture was sitting on my neighbor's roof waiting for daylight to begin the banquet.

Saw Tank and he took off... sun's up and I can hear the other chickens fussing.

Beyond the back fence is woods... possums, raccoons, deer, and any other number of things. Our yards are fenced with vinyl fencing, except the back part going to the woods... it's black aluminum with gaps in it. Not sure why they did it that way, but just about all of the ones I have seen are like that.

Neighbor has his blocked off with chicken wire for obvious reasons, but it didn't keep whatever it was out. Tank keeps them out of my yard. [ram27bat]

Welcome highsierra. That other place died over the past few years. Used to be more lively than here. Hell, this place used to be more lively than here. But there's a core of FOGs that don't stop posting here till they're dead, so I've built some great friendships here. Stick around and Z might take you camping.

We do have Red Tailed Hawks in the neighborhood... but they'd have killed all 7 by now if they wanted to. This is happening at night. One of them was injured a week or so ago and now we got a dead one.

Sucks... because 7 chickens produce enough eggs that they keep giving some to us. And fresh eggs is yummy.
