81357 Caldwell The King is Dead toro from darklord trade. I swore off Caldwell years ago. When I'd trade and someone asked what I liked I'd say anything but Caldwell. I HATED every line I tried. When they showed up in my humidor I gave them away.

But I'm finding I don't have a favorite profile. I have gone and bought boxes of stuff I used to love and have been unimpressed. I'm very particular in what I like, but I don't know what it is. I do know age helps, but some fresher ones been doing the things too.

Anyway, back to my mission to smoke every cigar from that trade good or bad.

Cold draw is very open, flavor very flat. First light some cinnamon and cedar. No pepper on retro. Slightly dry. Not much here. Very mild kinda boring. I don't recall why I disliked Caldwell so much, but I think it'll come to me.

First ash drop took a few taps from my finger but when it dropped it was pretty loose and dusty not even flakey. Picking up a little more cedar and spice on retro, still with ice cream undertones vanilla and chocolate and a nice creamy texture that lasts. I might be liking this despite myself. The draw tightened up earlier to where I like it.

Halfway, gotta admit I like it. Tried to say it's too flat and one-note but it's a complex tune throughout. No major changes, no alarms and no surprises please. It's slowly drifted away from sweet flavors to a more earthy tone and some black pepper rising up the rear. The loose dusty ash scares me I keep rolling it off on the rim of the Mason jar I use as an ashtray afraid it'll sprinkle on my shirt. Got enough holes in my shirts from welding don't need more ashholes.

That's really the only negative I can say, the ash is dusty. Doesn't detract from the cigar at all. Overall it was very pleasant, not good enough that I'm gonna buy a fiver, but I can stop giving away every Caldwell that shows up in my humidor uninvited.

81359: Punch Gran Puro, better than the first I had from this fiver

81360: RP 20th Anniversary. I’ve smoked 4 or 5 of these and they all have a very tasty lingering aftertaste, sweet and salty/savory. The beginning is always strong black, red, cayenne pepper and they always fade very quickly in the first third. Otherwise, the burn is fairly lousy, the room note is acidic and sour, off-putting. The body is full and the cigar is strong but the flavors are so weak as to be frustrating. Throughout I think I’m beginning to pick up “something” but then it disappears. Nothing breaks out. I keep getting the feeling that I’m missing something. It’s not a BAD cigar but I could not recommend it to a friend.

81369 - MF Le Bijou petite robusto, 1st one from a 4/19 box purchase. This one lost most of the raisin, chocolate and hot spice that I get from fresh ones. It had more of a popcorn/caramel thing going on in the 1st half, java and spice in the 2nd half.

Glad you liked it and I’ve separated a few to age, thanks for the tip. I think AJ Fernandez has 2 different Nics in production for RyJ.

First time smoking the nicaragua version of blind man's bluff. I was not impressed thru the first half but it has improved tremendously on the backend.

81372: Camacho Triple Maduro Romusto
My first time on this blend. I’ve had it for about 2 weeks and I think I’ll save the others for a few more weeks before I light them up. A rest might do them good. But that dang wrapper is a pain in the keister.

81373 Asylum something from Jakethesnake. The label says asylum premium 50x6. That's all I know about this cigar and brand. Gonna wait till halfway before looking it up. Band has a silver skull with wings and a very dark red heart in the skull.

Very dry feeling and looking fairly rustic but delicate appearing wrapper notably lightweight in my hand. Threw it on my scale for shiggles, only weighs 12g. Had a aaa battery nearby so I threw that on the scale - 12g. It's very very light.

First light fairly dry, peanut shells. First inch fairly dry, woody, like peanut shells. Very light body, dry texture.

It's burning surprisingly slow despite the light weight and open draw. Did touchup once after first ash drop. It reminds me of something I've had recently. I'll think about it maybe remember by my next edit.

After 2nd ash drop it woke up. Peanut shells are gone, it's more cedar and spice a little earthy and I'll bet its a Honduran habano reminds me of the Aladino habano from palama. Maybe a corojo, there's a little more sweetness on the finish and less woodiness but the peanut shells to start making me think habano.

I accidentally started puffing too fast and it let me know to slow down. Draw is still pretty open but it's improved.

Got halfway and took a while to find this cigar online. Guess its just called the 50x6. It's not Honduran, but Nicaraguan, but it is made by CLE and habano wrapper so I'm not too far off.

Overall I'd smoke another but wouldn't buy another. Wasn't bad, didn't make it move. Don't regret spending an hour with this lightweight.
