81457 - Fugazi Compare to macanudo

Wanted to try these out as yard cigars so I got the Fugazi sampler pack.

This one tastes ok, not bad but not good but it's burning wonky as hell

The Macanudo one was my least favorite of the Fugazi COTY sampler. If you have the opportunity, try the Fugazi Cohiba Behike. Never had one to compare it to, but I enjoyed the Fugazi version a lot.

81461 Camacho Ecuador with thanks to jakethesnake. I've not had many big band Camachos. Nh this one. Rustic very dark brown wrapper with a nice oily sheen. Seems to be rolled very well. Cold draw is perfect.

First light is fairly bitter coffee beans and buckets of pepper. Pepin style pepper black and red. It stings a bit. Settles into an earthy roasted coffee beans with pepper staying in the retro but in more tolerable doses.

Two ash drops it's still the same stuff but reduced. Occasionally getting toasted coconut which is unique. But the texture/mouthfeel is dry. There's no sweetness to balance the earthy tones.

As it smoked past halfway all the big flavors died off and it turned into a generic cigar flavor. Typical STG type thing. Just blah. Multiple touchups to get here too. I tossed it where the big bright blue band once sat. It's not bad, but there's nothing here to warrant another go at these. Wouldn't even be a good yard gar with 4 touchups by midway.

81463 Zino Platinum Scepter Grand Master. After the Camacho I wanted to grab a better Davidoff n friends. Recently had an Avo, so I decided to dip into these.

Golden brown CT shade wrapper with minimal veins and a dull sheen. Probably not the best thing to grab after that full power pepperbomb I just was smoking but whatever, I like a good Connie.

First light is Delta1's buttered shortbread. And that continues through the first ash drop. The aroma is pleasant. The texture mildly creamy but not as rich as I was hoping, maybe it will build. Bready, sweet nuts, butter, a slight mineral note on the finish. Maybe even cubanesque.

A little more cedar and spice come up and play nicely with the sweet notes. Burn is perfect. Body is pretty thin. Texture could be richer.my A&W cream soda is helping but I think the Camacho is hurting this one with residuals.

After the halfway point this baby turned on me. It moved. Turned the spice up big time, and brought more butter rich texture that lasts. More minerally finish, more smoke, more sweetness to balance more spice. I'm loving it.

Overall an excellent cigar. In the same lane as other good Davidoff I've had.

I think Caldwell is trash. I put them in the same category as Rocky Patel. Too many lines to care about a fraction of them, mostly garbage with a few ringers.

This was my first Caldwell ever. I thought it was peppery on first taste and that lasted until the last third, though in the middle it was more like a mix of peppery tastes. Not much broke out for me. I thought I caught a hint on vanilla on two puffs in the middle and a couple slight, very slight hints of anise. But none of these flavors showed more than hints and just on a couple draws. Predominant flavor of plain brown cigar tobacco, mild “body” of smoke and didn’t seem to have a strong nicotine profile, which is fine and dandy with me. I think it was well constructed with the exception of a slightly soft cap, not too much to complain about though. The pigtail was nice and tight and snapped off clean as you please. The wrapper was medium brown, medium shine…meaning not very shiny but not matte either. The wrapper had fine veins that I thought were quite nice looking, it held its ash and burned at a moderate comfortable temperature. Not much aftertaste and no flavors really stood out. I was expecting something more creamy and nutty or toasty to go with the pepper. I was a little disappointed because I thought I was going up the ladder one rung from my last month’s diet of Gurkha and Rocky Patel. Based on this one stick, I’d have to say Caldwell is keeping good company with those. Perhaps the others will be better.

81467: Tatuaje Havana VI
My socond time on this one. Peppery mostly and pleasant leather comes in the first third. Slight spice begins in first third continues with occasional savory aftertaste with occasional hits of spice and earth and the slight aftertaste of maple syrup and bitter celery root. Not a dead ringer for maple syrup and celery root but those are the closest approximations that I can think of. I didn’t catch any creamy, nutty or toasty flavors. Well made, beautiful little cigar.

Danm, you got that right. There are some flavors in the Tatuaje that I can’t identify but I’ve got a few more to burn.

81470: Camacho Trip Mad Romusto
My second time smoking this. The first one was bitter tasting, very stiff and hard, tight draw, long cone on the cherry. This one wasn’t bitter, wasn’t stiff and hard, had a nice draw and even burn small pyramid cherry. Started with pepper and a wee bit ‘o sweetness. Second third transitioned to that salty-savory umami flavor that I love and the sweet part had a slight toasty edge. I didn’t like the first one but the second one was good. I can’t help but think that the first one wasn’t rested long enough at proper RH and that the remaining 3 out of this fiver will be even better. JGRAZ sent me one in a noob package and it is probably older than the ones I’m smoking now, so it will probably be a flavor bomb. Something I’m looking forward to.
It seems like Camacho is not a well-respected brand, or I could be mistaken. I have to say that I think this trip Maduro is quite a tasty and promising smoke for me. But I’m just a noob trying to forge a golden palate 😝

Been napping for a couple of years. Hopefully that's helped.

Edit: Much better than the 1st one I smoked so mebbe it takes at least two years for the Corona vitola to blossom.
