I felt ok there for a minute not be the dead last sender, until I was.

Cheno, box heading your way. ETA Mon, which is a long time to go about 40mi. Should've looked into the Pony Express

9505 5122 7711 4109 0060 28

Or something to that effect. Those numbers are really small

9114 is a “label 400” tracker. Asked my mother she worked at the post office over 30 years. March has been a year since she retired. Those people still call her daily asking her stuff. She explained more and how and when they use this. It’s all over my head but she got excited when I ask postal stuff

That's funny and cute. I hope your mom is doing well.

I typed in the number followed by USPS and it showed up. Without the USPS at the end I get weird results

All is good and I will look for it.

Glad the box done got there jeebs. I'm always nervous without tracking numbers.

Letting my smokes from Huzza sit a little. Will probably start smoking early next week.

Blind from jeebs. #3

Light brown romusto.
Pre light has a sweet grass smell.
Very easy draw and burn stayed perfect. Got about a 2'' ash before it fell off.
I got a vanilla and maybe a touch of caramel/cocoa with that Connecticut grassy taste. Absolutely no pepper or spice.
Left a little bit of a coating in the mouth like after eating pecans without the bitter.
About a 45 minute burn.

I'll guess this is the cheap gar. But I really liked it.

Package came in from Tiver! Here are the damages:

-AF 858 Natural Anniversary (love these)
-La Aurora 107 (also love these)
-Graycliff 10yr Vintage Maduro (nh)
- Southern Draw Manzanita (nh)
- Drew Estate Herrera Esteli (nh)
- Three unlabeled beauties all either Connies, Habanos, or Cameroons (I can’t tell the difference)

And the goodies
- Lamoka Mocha Caramel Popcorn (I am sure these won’t last long)
- Witches Brew Coffee from Finger Lakes Coffee
- Boveda 50 Ct 1yr Humidor Bag (because I’ve been using my lack of storage space as an excuse to buy less cigars)

Thanks Tiver!! I look forward to giving my best attempt at a cigar review. Given I can’t tell the difference between light colored wrappers, I’m sure that will inform you about how poor my reviews are going to be. I’m going to let them rest for a week and get started.

#3 from P-Dub

4.5" 50 ring Maduro. Smooth oily wrapper. This one is pretty hefty and seems well packed. Draw a touch tight but still good.
Chocolate and light coffee on cold draw. Started at 1500hrs nothing to accompany it.

First:
Mild black pepper and coffee to kick it off. Getting sone cedar and lots of spice on retro that lingers in my nose. Touch of sweetness too.

Second:
Leather now, reminds me of chewing on my base ball glove when I was a kid. That was a nice memory. Pepper is gone. Now getting some dried leaves, I think. Definitely some oak in there.

Third:
Pepper creeping back in and now some baking spices, cinnamon and nutmeg. Chile pepper is getting predominant and getting in on my lips, tongue and nose. And the spices are bigger now too.

Smoke time was just over one hour. This was my favorite of the three and took this right to the nub. I'm leaning on this as the higher of the three. But I haven't looked yet. Kind of reminds me of a Liga #9

Now to look........

My guess:
#1 low
#2 mid
#3 high

The results:
#1 Macanudo Hyde Park Maduro
This was my first Macanudo of any kind.

#2 Arturo Fuente Anejo No.50 maduro
Another first for me. I liked this one a lot, and toyed with making this my higher end until I had #3. Though this one was without it, I found it interesting that I picked up Spanish cedar here and the cigars do come with a sleeve. You can definitely pick that up.

#3 Arturo Fuente Rothschild Maduro. Was my favorite of the 3.

Clearly I was wrong on all accounts. 😔 if it wasn't for the burn issues towards the end, the Anejo would likely have been my top choice.

Thank you Papa for a wonderful experience and Danm for setting this all up. This was the first time I ever sat down a recorded thoughts as I was smoking. Normally I just sit back and enjoy. This really makes you think about things as it moves along.

I don't think you were wrong on all counts. That was pretty good.

Edit: I think the Anejo has a lot of cedar flavor.

I don’t see how you were wrong on all cigars. Looks like you did a damn fine job. How do you think they should be labeled? I agree the Macanudo should probably be the low rank but I don’t know about the Fuentes. I do enjoy the Macanudo from time to time but I never thought it would outrank a Fuente from what you guys say.

@JGRAZ I will go along with you somewhat. I think the Mac maddie are pretty one dimensional. The AF Rothschild maddie is in the entry category of long filler AF cigars. I am a little familiar with both.and I think you did well describing each. The AF Roth maddie can be a little rough around the edges, but I like it pretty well. The Mac maddie is extremely predictable albeit on the rather mild side without any oomph. The Anejo is unfamiliar to me so can't comment.

Sitting quietly and thinking about what a cigar is doing is a great way to realize what it is about cigars that we like.

Right to the point Telle. Looking forward to the full round up. I can imagine the smoke you smoked as your description of the draw and burn was quite familiar. Not the specific smoke, more the event.

Drginc's package landed today.

A pound of Bergers cookies from Baltimore

A nice single rest Avo ashtray - maybe noticed I said I use a mason jar as an ashtray. Even if not, it'll be a welcome addition to the garage.

An Apache hardcase with cigars 1, 2, and 3. All medium-brown slightly splotchy toros that to my eye are identical. This is gonna be real interesting. This really looks like 3 cigars color-matched for the same box. There may be some differences in caps but there's no visual cues to tell me what's what.

Then on the bottom level some hitchhikers.

Rocky Patel vintage 1990 - nh
Sea Knight Greyhawks? - nh and never heard of at all
A robusto in cello with a pigtail cap and tissue paper covering it. Sticker on the back says "Just Plain Stupid" - nh
Padron Delicas in some super yellowed cello. This gotta be 5+ years old at least. I've never had a box live past 3 years so I've never seen it this dark.
Montesino cigar - nh never heard of and also in yellow cello
Avo Maduro in yellow cello - I don't know if I've had one but I've not had an aged one.
Fuente 858 - It's been a while but I like these.

This is an incredible package, thank you so very much! I'm tempted to go out and get started on the blind ones but I'm on call all weekend and would hate to have to ditch it if my pager goes off.

Glad they made it. Those cookies are very popular around Baltimore, grew up with them and always remind me of home.

The ashtray was made by my daughter and hope you can find it as useful as the jar lol. As for the cigars, the Sea Knight and just plain stupid are exclusive to Davidus cigars which is a small chain here in MD and the only shop/lounge around me. The case is what I use for camping and travel for my cigars. With only the bottom and lid foam it can hold about 2O cigars which gets me through a 2 week trip.

That Padron, Avo, 858, and Mantesino are all aged more than 10 years. Montesino is the Fuente Budget line but punches above its price point in my opinion.

Also the plain stupid is a heavy hitter so eat first and maybe have a cookie or 2 on hand for the sugar to counteract the heavy Ligero.

I look forward to your reviews of the 3, I thought it would be fun to eliminate any bias based on wrapper and vitola.
