82051 Diesel red band with thanks to jeebling. Went out of order and skipped Diamond Crown cause I'm on call and that's not a cigar I want to risk ditching if the pager goes off.

Dry, AJF pepper. This is how I remember Diesels. There's just not much there. Good draw good burn good smoke awful cigar. I gave it an inch and pitched it.

82052: Joya de Nicaragua Antano 1970 Consul (Robusto) (4.5"x52)
Dark Criollo wrapper with dark mottled spots. Looks like a stinker but smells like fresh hay. Mild pepper and sweetness at kick off. First half had a shy toasted grain taste but never really stood out. Mellow and on the sweeter side with the smoke being fuller in body, easy draw and tidy burn. Last half had very small amounts of mineral, pepper and gentle sweetness. Burned cool to the nub. Supposed to be a killer but I put it medium + at the very most. Nothing bad but nothing here either. Not interested in spending money on these again. I paid $4.6 per in a fiver @ CB. Disappointed

82053 Diesel Whiskey Rebellion with thanks to jeebling.

First light already has a body and the pepper is subdued. Definitely a better cigar than the last one. Fairly dry texture, bitter nuts, woody. All the habano wrapper things I dislike. Uncharacteristic of AJF this thing will only burn on one side. Multiple touchups and can not get it to stay straight. The main band is rather large and at 2" I already had to remove it and of course it's glued to the wrapper. Took off about a 1" square maybe that's the issue but the binder is intact. The side that won't burn is the side with the hole.

Doesn't seem to adversely affect it though, flavors got better. More rich texture, some caramel sweetness, the bitterness and dry wood has left. Touchup number 4 I lightly purged and saw no smoke escape the wrapper void so I don't think that's the issue. Still a dry texture

Overall decent, had to put in too much effort with touchups. Habanos aren't my jam but it tastes true to style. Didn't pick up anything to indicate barrel aging though. I expected something unique to pop out but it was just a generic oily habano all the way. The burn line did correct at about 2" remaining.

Danm, as it turns out, Diesel hasn’t really impressed me yet I do like some of AJF’s other brands quite a lot.

That has been my experience as well. I haven't found an AJ cigar I really love though, but several that were good. I did pick up a couple El pulpo, well see how he does with a $10+ cigar...

Lol, the dl660 maduro is in my regular rotation. My tasters must be burned out...

Jeebs, I am sad to hear about the JdN Antano. I smoke a metric ton of those in years past and always enjoyed them.

Regarding the Camacho 3x maduro, that is one of my regular smokes, but you are right, I always let them rest for at least a few months. I have heard they are no as good as the original (pre Davidoff). The only way to get back to the OR is to smoke an Eiroa CBT maduro.

82061: Aging Room Quattro Nicaragua Vibrato (Toro) (6.0"x54)
Cigar smells mostly of barnyard w/hint of fresh hay. Foot smells like barnyard and cocoa. Nic puro w/dark oily wrapper, flawless BP w/small veins, invisible seems. Deep V cut, sweet tobacco and cocoa cold draw. Peppery kickoff then mellow w/o any flavor break out until final third where molasses and floral flavors show up in small amounts. Tiny bit bitter now. This particular cigar was not as good as I expected based on previous experience which goes to show me that allowing more time to rest (more than the month this one has) truly does matter.

82064: Fuente Hemingway Signature 6 x 46. I’ve had this cigar since 4 March from the small place.
Earthy and fresh hay on the tube w/a touch of floral and cocoa, maybe, at the foot. Camaroon wrapper w/significant variation in color from foot to cap. A couple large veins, slightly raised seem in first third, very sloppy cap job, thumbnail sized piece of wrapper came off with the large band. Cold draw draw semi-sweet tobacco. Kickoff black pepper and ashy. 2” in the ashy taste finally subsides. Fairly generic cigarette tasting tobacco with the black pepper constant the entire burn. Last 2”, using the patented Tele-nubber I did catch a tiny hint of minerals and gingerbread. Usually I don’t review a cigar when it’s my first time smoking that blend but I thought I would this time because I’ve been really hyped on the Hemingway. Because I’ve had only one I won’t pass judgment other than to say I hope the other Fuente’s I have are a better smoke than this first one.
