82627 Caldwell Savages.

Starts off just not bad. Tastes like kinda sweet hay. After an inch dry woody habano and a little spice. Thin texture, short finish. Fairly mild. Just tastes like one of the general/altadis legacy brands. Mass market cigar flavors. I'm not gonna push through. Tossed at about 2" in. Not bad, but also not my type.

82629 Crowned Heads JD Howard Reserve.

Starts off with a strong oily solvent note. Then shifts to boot leather. A terrible bitterness on the sides of my tongue, then smoke starts coming from a char spot in the wrapper nearly 2" from the burn line. Purged, cut past the tunnel and it continued even further. Cut it down to halfway and relit. Just boots and bitterness. Dreadful awful cigar. I'm sure it was a construction flaw but none of it was pleasurable.

82633 Crowned Heads CHC Serie E.

Large wrapper crack up by the band. Lit ok,so we'll see if that has an effect. First light flavors kinda both sweet and bitter, lil leather, lil solvent. Could be remnants from the previous 2 cigars. It passes, ramped up some spice blend, oak barrel note in retro. Dry texture. Burn line is straight, the big crack doesn't seem to have an effect. Texture got richer, finish sweeter, different spice profiles on retro.

Decent to good cigar, definitely like the smaller rg, this was a toro.

82633: This isn't going to be a critique but a warning. Last week's haul included Undercrown Maduro Toro and beware when bidding on them. Mine are rock hard, dry and terrible draw. Sorry

82637 - Cain Maduro toro. At least I'm calling it a toro. They call it a romusto. It's 52 x 5.5" - that no man's land of cigar sizes. This is a size that should have a dumb name. Something metal as F. Maybe call it DeathChain 3000 or something cool. Or maybe punk, could call it Fractured Penís or something. Gonna think about that.

As an experiment, I took the cello off two years ago and meant to smoke it about a year ago but forgot.

82641 Black Label Viaticum

Strong but with restraint. Pepper, spices, cedar wood. Texture dry, finish slightly bitter. Not much else going on as it burns. I was expecting a lot more from a $15 cigar. It's got stiff competition in the $5 cigar range. If it were a $5 cigar it would be good. But since I paid $12 for it, it's downgraded to not bad.

It smoked great but as an experiment, it failed.

I wanted to see how much of a difference taking the cello off really made so I was supposed to try the cigar after 3 to 6-ish months and then compare it against one that was kept in cello. Two years ago when the Palmas arrived, it seemed like the perfect time to answer the Cello On or Cello Off question, at least for me. But, no big deal as I’mma rarely in a rush to try a new smoke.
