Went undefeated this week. Went 3 for 3 on bank shots and banked the 8 ball in for the final kill. No better ending than that. Plus free cigars.

It's been awhile but I like to buy a rotisserie chicken. Eat one then shred the other up and make some chicken soup, and/or chicken tortilla soup, and/or shredded BBQ sandwiches, and/or chicken tacos, maybe chicken chili and the like.

Not all at once - I ain't gonna make 6 meals at once, just toss some of the leftovers in the fridge and the rest in the freezer for future recipes. I could probably use the bones and stuff to make chicken stock but I just throw it in the trash.

Walmart store here is the same. They use the bags rather then the plastic containers. When I worked there they literally cooked (no exaggeration) 20 to 100 more rotisserie chickens a day that didn't sell. According the the USDA they can only be sold as a cooked product for certain number of hours of when it's done being cooked.

After that they need to be refrigerated for a certain number of hours. Then they can sell the refrigerated ones for like 2 days.

After that they have to freeze them and they can thaw them out and try to sell them again in the refrigerator section for another 2 days. The date that it was cooked is on the price sticker. So a rotisserie chicken can be sold as a refrigerated product even though it was cooked about 5 days ago.

Once the chicken is at the 3 days old or so, they mark it down in price. If they are not sold in 4 days, they donate the product to local farms for pig food.

I pointed out that we were over making literately 100's of pounds of chicken each day and throwing away money. The idiot store manager (my personal bias - the guy is an idiot) scaled back on how many they cook each day in order minimize waste.

With that said, I have bought 3 days old refrigerated rotisserie chickens from Wally World to strip down for soups and stuff and have never had any negative results.

Another day, another dollar.

Starting to think inpatient psychiatry work isn’t for me. I think I’m going back to geriatrics after this job. A lot fewer death threats in nursing homes.

I know very little about the field you work in but one thing I do know is I'm not jealous of those that work in it. Personally, I'm not the best person that can deal with deaths no matter what age.

About a year ago, my Dad was diagnosed with cancer and was told he has about one month to live. I was totally messed up with that. Like seriously mentally messed up trying to digest that. Booking plane flights, working with my Mom and siblings on funeral arrangements and stuff all while thinking - this ain't happening. It's a bad dream. I'll wake up and say to myself "That was a Franking nightmare that I never want to go though again.... please let me wake up and it's just a bad dream."

After a couple of weeks of further tests they said, oops... upon further review they said he could live for a year or more if he follows though on his treatments. He dodged a bullet but still not out of the woods. None of us know when it twill happen but it will happen. I don't think I'll ever be prepared mentally when it does happen.

As I said, I'm not jealous of your profession, You are a better person than me. I couldn't deal with stuff like that. In my job if things don't work as planned, an inanimate object is scrapped. We can make more, no harm and no foul. Folks that work in health care, if things don't go as planned, a life can be lost and the ripple effects from that can scar people their whole life.

.I will make a guess that you probably improve many people's life in a positive way. I applaud you for the work you do.
