83, 124: Tatuaje Black w/thanks to Corey

My first time smoking this. It has a beautiful very dark Nicaraguan sun grown Criollo wrapper. The cigar is med+ building to full. Interesting and unidentifiable flavors that are well balanced with earthy, coffee bean in the mix. The first third had a frequent taste that reminded me of the pithy white part of a grapefruit and some toasted wheat, the smoke had a mild natural sweetness. Second third no grapefruit pith but occasional mild flavor of anise and a spicy burn is noticeable in back of throat. Final third anise and toasted wheat are gone, starts with a hint of nougat which quickly falls away and a burnt molasses, black pepper bold profile takes over. This flavors of this cigar were difficult to describe but I’ve tried my best. It had a good balance and noticeable transitions. This was enjoyable and I look forward to the next one. Thanks, Corey for an enjoyable and interesting smoke. This was unlike anything I’ve tried before.

Based upon the scouting smokes by JTS, I've let these rest for a couple of years. Hopefully they're ready.

Edit: The two years musta really helped, this one was pretty good.

83, 126: Macanudo Maduro w/thanks to PAPAWHISKEY

This was my first time smoking this cigar.
Beautiful oily CBL wrapper, the seam raised somewhat but presented no problems, firm with notes of chocolate brownie and toast. Cold draw a little sweet, kickoff with black pepper and burnt wheat toast. Nice draw and lots of thick smoke all the way to the end. First third was toasty and earthy, quite mild. Second third introduced a bit of mineral and orange peel and final third was all mineral and molasses but still very mild. Not a flavor bomb but the transitions were noticeable. Thank you, Pete.

83, 128: Arturo Fuente Anejo Xtra Viejo No. 50 w/thanks to PAPAWHISKEY

Man, that was a great cigar. Starts out with mostly cedar and a dash of white pepper somewhat creamy. Second third orange peel enters the mix with a touch of sweetness. Final third add minerals and the sweetness becomes smokey molasses. Cool smoker with just a bit of spicy bite, beautiful ash and burn. Very nice. Thanks, Pete for a great smoke.
