'Seriously'? US, Egypt, Qatar to Float 'Take It or Leave It' Proposal to Hamas, Israel

That's the rumor in both Washington DC and in Cairo at the moment, anyway. According to anonymous sources around the hostage talks, all of the mediating parties have just about given up on getting a deal done. The only tactic left to get an agreement is an ultimatum, apparently, and so the US, Egypt, and Qatar will issue one shortly.

'Take it or leave it' only applies to one of the two parties, of course, but the pressure will all come down on the other. And Israel knows it:

Israel is braced to receive a non-negotiable Gaza hostage deal on the table from mediating countries Qatar, Egypt and the United States.

“I think that what will happen in the end” is that “there will be a kind of take it or leave” deal which US President Joe Biden would put forward “together with the Egyptians and the Qataris,” Foreign Affairs and Defense Committee Chairman Yuli Edelstein told The Jerusalem Post on Tuesday morning.

“Then we will have to take a decision” because “it won’t be negotiable again,” he said.

This is going to be pointless, and the US already knows it. Israel keeps accepting terms proposed by the triumvirate, and Hamas refuses to budge. It won't cut any sort of deal that will keep it from re-arming and asserting control over Gaza again, and it's not even clear that they will meet the terms that they themselves have proposed, as Hamas often then changes them when Israel has tried to meet them.

Benjamin Netanyahu blasted his critics yesterday, including the White House indirectly, for demanding more concessions from Israel while Hamas murders the hostages:

“They shot them in the back of the head…and now, after this, we’re asked to show seriousness? We’re asked to make concessions? What message does this send Hamas? It says kill more hostages, murder more hostages, you’ll get more concessions,” Netanyahu stated.

“The pressure internationally must be directed at these killers, at Hamas, not at Israel. We say yes, they say no all the time. But they also murdered these people. And now we need maximal pressure on Hamas.

“I don’t believe that either President Biden or anyone serious about achieving peace and achieving their release would seriously ask Israel, Israel, to make these concessions,” he argued. “We’ve already made them. Hamas has to make the concessions.”

Exactly, but don't expect the new proposal to do any such thing. The Washington Post also reported late Sunday that the Biden administration will offer a "take it or leave it" plan, mainly as an escape hatch from the war. You have to get a miner's hat and a pickaxe to find the actual lede of the story, which is that the White House has finally begun to realize that Hamas isn't taking any of these negotiations seriously. You have to get through 15 paragraphs of obfuscation before finding out why the triumvirate will soon wash their hands of this:

Some Middle East experts said that the fewer living hostages there are, the less pressure there will be on Netanyahu to come to a deal — U.S. officials fear the number of living hostages may number only in the dozens.

The senior administration official said Hamas’s decision to execute the hostages with negotiations under ways “calls into question” Hamas’s seriousness in the talks. Hamas has proved obstinate at various points in the talks, even as Israeli officials have made concessions, the official said.

At the very same moment, Biden came out of his beach chair to accuse Netanyahu of not doing enough to get a deal done. He knows, as does Antony Blinken and the rest of the foreign-policy team, that Netanyahu has accepted several American formulas for a pause even though the terms cut against their preferred war policies. The problem has never been Israel -- it has always been Hamas. And yet Biden lies about it even as his own team has begun to concede that Hamas has never been serious about these negotiations in the first place.

It's despicable. Biden wants to settle some old scores with Netanyahu as well as shore up his party's prospects in Michigan, and he doesn't care about damaging Israel's national security to do so.

If the proposal includes an Israeli withdrawal from the Philadelphi Corridor, then Israel may leave it before Hamas has the chance. Netanyahu also made clear that he has no intention of allowing Hamas to re-arm through Philadelphi, and that pulling out 20 years ago was a massive mistake that he has no intention of repeating:

Once Israel left the Philadelphi Corridor in 2005 during the Gaza pullout, there was a “massive introduction of weapons, munitions, machines for producing weapons and machines for digging tunnels - all sponsored by Iran, directed by Iran, financed by Iran.”

That “axis of evil” needs to regain control of Philadelphi Corridor, Netanyahu said, adding that “Hamas insists for this reason that we will not be there, and for this reason, I insist that we will be there.” ...

He said that once Israel leaves the Philadelphi it will never be allowed to return, explaining that in the end, this wasn’t purely a military issue, but also a diplomatic one that had to take into account broader strategy. This isn’t a security issue, this is about a national geopolitical strategy,” he said.

Will that force the US to walk away from negotiations? Probably, and that might be best for Israel. Over the last 20 years, the US has intervened several times to freeze this conflict between Hamas and Israel on the assumption that Hamas would eventually start becoming a serious governing party rather than the terrorist proxy army it has been all along. Now the US wants to return to the frozen-conflict status quo that Hamas breaks over and over again. It will be better in the long run for this war to get settled as wars do -- with either capitulation, complete destruction, and/or the discrediting of the warmakers.

The US seems hellbent on some 2 state solution that NEVER has worked. Why not step out of the way and let Israel take the trash out? I believe that this is the way to a lasting peace in that region. Our meddling and paying for the terrorism for decades has muddied up the water enough.

If I was Netanyahu I would tell Biden that “We don’t negotiate with terrorists.” And then privately I’d tell him, thanks for abandoning us when we most needed you. Go **** yourself. You’re dead to me.

Biden is so out of it he doesn't know the difference between hamas and hummus.

But don't worry, Kamalala studied the maps, so she is up to speed now.

Israel Offers To End War: Hamas Leader Sinwar To Be Given Safe Passage If All Hostages Returned

Israel's top official who is overseeing the (so far) failed truce talks with Hamas has said Israel is ready to offer Hamas leader Yahya Sinwar safe passage if all the hostages are returned. Upon that condition, the war in Gaza war can come to an end, the senior official said.

This came direct from Israeli hostage envoy Gal Hirsch during an interview with Bloomberg published Tuesday. "I’m ready to provide safe passage to Sinwar, his family, whoever wants to join him," Hirsch said.

"We want the hostages back. We want demilitarization, de-radicalization of course — a new system that will manage Gaza," the top Israeli negotiator added. In essence he has stipulated that Hamas must agree to exit Gaza, and relinquish power there.

Hirsch described that this unprecedented safe passage offer was put on the table less than 48 hours ago, but did not reveal whether a response was received or the nature of any Hamas reaction to it.

Yet he also admitted in the interview that the prospect of achieving a deal looks more and more unlikely. So the safe passage offer looks like a desperate last-ditch effort to get talks back on track.

Sinwar has long been seen as the mastermind behind the Oct.7 terror attacks on southern Israel. But even if the Hamas chief took up the offer, he would still remain on the run even abroad. This is because, as Bloomberg explains, Israeli intelligence has a proven history of tracking the movements of Hamas officials abroad and assassinating them:

It’s unclear whether Hamas would accept the proposal for Sinwar to leave Gaza, especially given Israel’s history of operations targeting operatives abroad.

Israel hasn’t taken responsibility for the assassination of Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh on July 31 in Tehran. But Iran has said the killing — Haniyeh was slain in a bomb blast at a Tehran guest house — was Israel’s handiwork.

Hirsch continued by saying there are still other options even if Hamas doesn't agree to this big offer of safe passage for Sinwar. "In parallel, I must work on plan B, C and D because I must bring the hostages back home," he explained, adding that "The clock is ticking, the hostages do not have time."

Indeed the last six hostages to be recovered from the tunnels had been slain shortly before Israel's military (IDF) could reach them. This has outraged the hostage victims' families, who have also accused Prime Minister Netanyahu of being lukewarm in seeking the return of the captives. They say he's recklessly prioritized the military operation to defeat Hamas so much so that it's put the remaining some 100 hostages in danger.

Recent days have witnessed more record-breaking protests in Tel Aviv and Jerusalem:

Hamas has since warned that it will continue executing hostages if the IDF forces its way close to their locations. So the prospect of future daring military rescue raids returning hostages alive is looking more bleak.

Well, it seems that Israel managed to send Hezbolla a nice message today. They figured out how to detonate the pagers (still used in Lebanon) of approx. 1000 Hezbollah members. Streams of people rushing to the hostpital with hand or pocket-area injuries...

Well played, Israel. Well played.

Kamala Harris Doubles Down on Withholding Weapons from Israel

Vice President Kamala Harris doubled down Tuesday on the Biden administration’s policy of withholding 2,000-lb. precision munitions from Israel as a response to its decision to pursue Hamas terrorists in the city of Rafah in Gaza.

The administration admitted withholding a shipment of weapons after Israel attacked Rafah, and Sen. Tom Cotton (R-AR) accused the administration of slowing the delivery of a wide variety of other weapons Congress had approved.

The decision had no effect on Israel’s decision to enter Rafah — but may have led to additional deaths of Israeli troops, who were forced to enter buildings where Hamas was hidden, rather than bombing them. The buildings were often booby-trapped or filled with Hamas terrorists lying in wait.

The decision also encouraged arms embargoes by other countries. It also came as Israel faced attacks not only from Hamas, but also from Hezbollah in southern Lebanon, as well as a variety of other Iranian-backed terror groups.

Harris touted her support for withholding the weapons in a conversation with the National Association of Black Journalists (NABJ), who urged her to pressure Israel.

“One of the things that we have done that I am entirely supportive of is the pause that we’ve put on the 2,000-lb. bombs, and so there is some leverage that we have had and used, but ultimately the thing that is going to unlock everything else in that region is getting this deal done,” Harris said.

The “deal” refers to a hostage and ceasefire deal with Hamas, which has resisted every effort at an agreement thus far. The Biden administration wants to use a deal to forge a broader regional peace between Israel and Saudi Arabia.

Harris said last month that she was “open” to discussing a larger arms embargo on Israel, but later backtracked.

The NABJ asked three questions about the Palestinian cause, and none about criminal justice reform, which the group considered “urgent” just four years ago.

Our nation's greatest ally in the Middle East left to flounder and potentially be exposed to the Iranian funded attacks.

Remember folks...Iran prays several times a day for the destruction of Israel and the USA. Israel because they're friends with us. Us...because of the Freedom we enjoy.

Hamas isn't going to the table...ever. They have the DNC and YOUR taxdollars doing their bidding!

Brilliant strategy. They killed all of the leadership of Hezbo's first over the border battalion. This flew under the radar because the major bombing run was destroying rocket launchers to the north. A precision bombing/missle run in the south ended them. They were meet to plot the next move after the pagers/walkies attacks. Those attacks were a ruse to get all these dirt bags in one location to end them. Also, now Hamas, Hezbo, and Iran know they are completely infiltrated and can be ended at any time.
