I just finished Season 1 a few days ago. This was an excellent recommendation. I was going to write you a nasty letter, RAM, because I didn’t like the ending. I’m very glad to know that they made a Season 2 😂

The Great Dictator (1940).

The Great Dictator is a 1940 American anti-fascist, political satire, and black comedy film written, directed, produced, scored by, and starring British comedian Charlie Chaplin, following the tradition of many of his other films. Having been the only Hollywood filmmaker to continue to make silent films well into the period of sound films, Chaplin made this his first true sound film.

Field of Dreams on Netflix
As many times as I’ve watched the movie, the scene with Ray and his Dad always gets me.

Rings of Power, Season 2 on Prime
Had to re-watch Season 1 to refresh my memory.

Pachinko on Apple TV
Interesting to see the Korean-Japanese “relationship” from the Korean viewpoint.

Been on an old move run. American Movie Classics did a series plucked from a list of the 100 best movies about politics. Two of the three I watched were intersting stories.

Germany, Year Zero (1948)
Most of it was filmed in piles of rubble that the Nazis asked for, trains snaking through debris The story follows people in the immediate aftermath of the war. Characters vary from people who never liked Hitler all the way through a solddier who fought through to the final day. It is a stark reality of how everyday survived and how some didn't.

Unsure if I'll read more about it. In a word, the movie is bleak.

All the Kings Men (1949)
The story of an innocent and honest man trying to make his way in politics through the dirty, rough and tumble game in an unnamed state. Reveals his slide into the same sleazy corruption.

The movie is said to be based on Lousinana's Huey "The Kingfish" Long.

Oliver Twist (1949)
My first watch for read of a Charles Dickens product.

Set in 1830s England, it follows a young orphan born in a poorhouse and followes is ups and downs. More downs than ups. The man weaves a story. Guess that is why he was widely considered the best writer of the 19th century.
