I let a good ol boy bow hunt up on my mountain. He hunts for bucks and he got him one this morning. 6 point, big body. He was up on that acre wide, flat, "bench" on the side of the mountain, that I showed yall on that video last March.
He walked off the mountain after he shot it and got me, and I helped track and drag it out of the woods. It was down in a steep ravine. It was really hard dragging that thing out.
It's steep over there, no joke. So narrow that he couldn't even field dress the animal. I sat down and braced myself against a tree when I could. We had a rope on each antler. Lots of 1, 2, 3 pull. My shirt and hat were absolutely soaked from sweat.
It took over 30 min to get it to the flat where he shot it. He field dressed it there. Then from the flat down to that old church it went pretty smooth. We pulled that rope with the deer dragging behind... Guy said I was as good as a draft mule. Lol
My land, my help got me half of the meat, and one less bastid eating my vegetables. Guy said my half would prolly be 30 to 35 lbs. He's going to take it to get processed on his dime. So I'll be getting burger, steak, roast and jerky later in the week.
This is supposed to be my day of rest but the man needed help, so I helped. Now I'm resting, and might have a cigar.
