Not dead, just uninterested lately.

Neighbor is down to 2 chickens thanks to raccoons. He trapped 3 so far. I shot each one of them in the skull with a .22 pistol. Still more to go according to his cameras...

He only has a pellet gun and a 58 muzzle loader. Neither of them appropriate. I got the Browning Buckmark and plenty of rounds. Still kinda loud, but nobody has called the cops yet.

CCI and a few other manufacturers make a subsonic "quiet" .22lr round. I have some and have shot them before out of a pistol and a rifle. They hardly make a sound when shot out of a rifle. Might wanna pick up a box if you need to be more discreet.

Until today I thought .22 subsonics were only subsonic out of a pistol because the longer time the bullet is under pressure in a rifle barrel pushes it over the speed of sound so the shot still produces a sonic boom which makes the shot loud but I googled it and they work in rifles too.
