finally got the exterior Christmas lights up. This will definitely be the last year that we put up the strands of icicle lights...major PITA to replace bulbs as they start to burn out or break...

I put mine up today too. Went simple, just 5 strands of white / clear LED icicle lights. Wife wants the Santa & reindeer inflatable too. Guess that gets set up tomorrow.

Happy Friday fellas

Lots of OT on the table today. I left some of the stocking/supply work unfinished yesterday with the intent to stay an extra 4 ish hours today. But wife told me I gotta be home by 5 cause the boy has a band concert tonight.

Did go to hr this morning to drop off a referral form. Been working on a former coworker to join me. Form makes her eligible for 10k sign on bonus and me for a 2k referral bonus. I've done this for 3 people, have yet to get a bonus for it but imma keep trying. They always have some reason to disqualify me.

Hi Guys! It's hell getting old...I don't recommend it....

After two days of putting up exterior Christmas lights and decorations, my back and legs are sore, as well as some muscles in the upper ribcage and upper arms, wrists and hands. The ladder I use is a heavy folding type, and setting it up and moving it around is a PITA. Then up and down the ladder too many times...then after all is up and the lights are fired up, damn if there aren't some dark sections that didn't light and need some trouble shooting to replace burned out bulbs. This will be the final year that we'll use those strands of icicle lights, about 10-12 years old...look nice but they get more and more finicky after each year.

My wife decided we should also hang some star ornaments that have blinking LEDS. Had to climb and twist to hammer some nails to hang those decorations...At least next year, they'll be easier to hang...

I checked everything after programming the timer for the lights, and everything looked good.

Morning folks. #15 Sun Devils play Iowa State for the Big 12 championship this morning. They were picked pre-season to be dead last since they went 3-8 in 2023. Gonna have to play without their best WR who was injured last week.

There was this place in town that would do a Christmas light show every year. The whole house and yard was set up in lights and orchestrated to music. The show would run after sundown every half hour until 10:00 pm. You pull up to the place, tune to some AM radio station listen to the music and watch the lights dance. They did it for years. Me and the kids would make it a must do must see thing. I couldn't imagine how many hrs it took to set this up every year.

It hasn't been running the past few years. I think one of the family members died or they moved or something.

Here's a couple vids of previous shows.

Every year it was different music. They start out rather somber then finish off with the Trans Siberian Orchestra in some of the shows. It's pretty cool.

Hanging out today. We're having corn dogs and generic crinkle cut fries as our cheat meal. Taking it back to childhood for sure. I thought about chicken nuggets but they might make us revert back permanently.

Supposed to be nice weather tomorrow. Low 50's and sunny. Going to try to get a few things done outside. Earlier in the week I got that mouse nest cleared out of the 2003 Cub Cadet 1515. It started right up.

Gonna try to take it in for service towards the end of December. While I'm there I'm going to get some blades for the 2023 XT1 and a blade for the push mower. Prolly get more .105 weedeater line as well.

Taking the two kids and their families out to a crab pot restaurant to celebrate my son's birthday. Son and daughter and their spouses all enjoy making a mess of peeling and eating crab, shrimp, scallops, lobster, mussels, clams, sausage, potatoes and corn served in a saucy broth of butter and spices. I believe we'll gather at our house after dinner, to open presents and have some cake and ice cream. The men will prolly have a cigar after that. Getting sleepy just typing that...

Seafood is yucky.

I'll sign up for sausage, potatoes and corn served in a saucy broth of butter and spices. You can have my servings of the other crap.
