Good Sunday Morning to All! It's a clear 55° on the way to 67° today.
Glad to be home, all I must do today is get the truck unloaded. Friday we drove down to Nashville, Georgia to get my wife's rifle lot tested. Found one great shooting lot of Lapua, loaded back up and drove to Douglas, Georgia. We stayed overnight in a Hampton Inn with about 150 or more ROTC students traveling to a drill event. They were a bit rowdy until about 0900 then it was quiet, I was impressed.
In the morning we went to a rifle match outside of Douglas. The wind was a challenge, but not as bad as it can be there. Great attendance and comradery. I thought I shot well, but not great, but it turned out to be my day and placed first. Mrs. Gene was doing great, but struggled with the wind on the third card of four.
The three+ hour drive home took about eight hours. My wife and I shot on different benches some distance apart. When we loaded up we managed to leave her rifle sitting on a table.
They had another match for unlimited rifles right after our Factory rifle match so the extra rifle wasn't unusual and people are really good about not messing with other people's stuff. After that match they noticed the rifle and called us. By then, we were much closer to home than Douglas. I turned around and headed back. Lucky for us a friend in Douglas started driving to meet us. I really appreciated it and now the guys in Douglas have something to laugh about, (well deserved), at my expense.
