Bette Midler sells Tesla, calls it a 'symbol of racism, greed and ignorance'

Jay Stahl
USA TODAY

Bette Midler is getting rid of her Tesla in protest of the car company's founder, Elon Musk.

Midler ‒ the outspoken star of screen and stage, whose politics lean left ‒ shared the news with fans in an Instagram post Wednesday.

"What a joyful day!" a picture Midler posted said. "I sold my (gulp) Tesla! No longer do I have to drive a symbol of racism, greed and ignorance! Life is suddenly so much better!!"

Midler's comments were seemingly made in reference to Musk's involvement in President Donald Trump's second administration as the Tesla and SpaceX founder seeks to dramatically reshape American government by reducing the size and scope of federal departments and agencies.

DMV, you are really sick. I may have had short-term losses under Biden, but over his 4-year presidency, I did quite well. This was not meant to be a post glorifying Biden, but you turned it into that. You, sir, live in a fantasy world, and I can tell have no investing or financial planning experience. If you did, you would see how silly your comments truly are.

In a way, I feel sorry for you. But I am also done with you because you are not a man of rational thought. Good day!

Oh, believe me I was done with you the second I finished your 1st post here.

You're entitled to your opinions, but saying I'm incapable of rational thought is going to garner only a few and those people...I don't need to be around to begin with. Thanks for playing, but you didn't lose a thing except your pride.

Hello Robert.

Thanks for the kind comment. I am not about to leave, but I am also not about to waste time with individuals without a clue.
I believe there must be a few sensible people here and hope to interact with them.

Check out the General and Cigar discussions. There is a lot more to this place than the Politics thread.

Some will tell you to "stay away" from the Politics forum, but I find it interesting.

As crazy as it might seem to a noob, Politics used to be even more entertaining.

You shoulda been here for the Covid Wars...😟

Welcome to the forum Fortis.

You seem a fairly quick study. Yes, “What about isums” are standard fair with the MAGA contingent here. So it you criticize Trump - no mater how validly - you will only get some variation of “f*ck Joe Biden”.

But on the up side, you will find an entertaining mix of poor reasoning, ingnorance, fanaticism, bigotry, and wise-assery on display 24-7.

Yes, the 401k’s are taking undue hits from Trump. When I look at the general and internationally clumsy disruptions he is causing I have to wonder what the true endgame is. I know it is not to help “the common man”. As always it is to help the owners of our country - and to get rid of some of the rif-raf. Keep the rest of us inline - in the name of freedom of course.

Sooooo... how do we feel now that 75 countries are ready to renegotiate our trade deals and the market jumped 3000 points in one day?

Just wondering.

Saw a clip from 1988 where Trump was on Oprah saying that he would do just what he's doing. Renegotiate trade deals to be fair.

Huh...

Hello Brewha,

Sorry to take so long to thank you for the welcome to the forum. I don't follow the forum daily as I don't have the time to do so. I do, however, plan to stay and post from time to time as I see there are a few quite intelligent people here. The others don't bother me, but I will treat them with the same respect, or shall I say, the same lack of respect that they show me. Some are like circus fleas and don't deserve a response at all, so I simply ignore them.

The 401-k has come back some, but I am still in a significant loss position. I don't expect much further improvement as we continue to hear the leader vacillate and change his position daily. Yesterday was a perfect example of how he lost his nerve when he saw the bond market about to collapse because of his actions.

Well, that's it for now. I wish you good luck and good health.
