Bud ... absolutely bang-on opinion of P&S ... it's absolutely incredible what gets done to films in order to "re-format it to fit your (tv) screen" ..

Standard 'scope aspect ratio is 1.85 to 1 ... tv screen is approx 1.33 to 1 ... meaning approximately 28% of the original picture's width has been cut off.

There's an awful lot going on in that lost 28% you don't get to see in a re-formatted film ...
