Libby flaps and jumps when she is excited or frustrated. It is like the energy has to go somewhere, and she is shaking it out through her hands.

Some stims are about body awareness, you are right. I am glad the GF/CF diet is working better for your kids this time around. It is difficult and expensive, but the rewards are most definately there. Coincidentally, versions of that diet is also being used to treat a number of autoimmune disorders such as fibromyalgia and rhumatoid arthritis, and gastrointestinal disorders like ulcerative colitis and celiac disease.

The nutritional suppliments really help, too. I would recommend a good, chelated fish oil suppliment, methyl B12 (methylcobalamin), folenic acid and TMG (trimethylglycine) to every human being walking the face of the earth. The only exception I would make is in the case of fish allergy. There are others, but this group would benefit every man, woman and child.

Thanks a lot, Heather.

Eve may already be doing this but I'll bring it to her attention.

Good to know that you and Ruggy are out there.

Thanks guys. It explains alot about my wife and children. None are autistic, but based on your definitions, some behaviors are definitely stimming. Knowing it helps their brains process incoming information means that its something I can live with instead of being annoyed by it.

I really mean it. THANKS!

Heather, I hope you don't mind me saying thar I feel you are woman of true intellect. You usually do not have anything bad to say about anyone. Another sign of wisdom. And an unswaying passion for your children. I am sure you possess many more wonderful qualitys. whenever i have time to visit these forums it is a pleasure to read what you have to say. Thank you, one and all. I really am not picking exclusively on Adroomi, although by this exchange it would certainly seem so. I have addressed similar letters to Bill Maher and Radio Chick (I believe that is the name of the harridan) for comments they have made without realizing that someone would care. I would have spoken out in the same fashion no matter who posted it, no matter whom it was directed at.

In this day and age, where I can no longer properly address my postman as such even though his sex is quite evident, I think it is a hideous injustice that persons with learning disabilities are the last bastion of ridicule. Somehow it was decided that it is bad to think poorly of gay people because they are born that way. How less so a person who is mentally challenged? And yet they are an easy target because there are is no glamour to it.

There is no shame in having learning difficulties. My IQ has been measured in the mid 160's, but I cannot solve mathmatical equations beyond simple division. Ask me to figure a percentage or use a fraction that is not common to cooking and my brain shuts down. In that area my learning is retarded. Am I ashamed of it? Heavens no. I know people who are mathmatical geniuses who can scarcely keep themselves groomed. Every person, even those who can hardly communicate, have something to offer.

Thank you for enduring my pontification. I am backing slowly away from my soap box.

good words nonetheless.

I REALLY like the Reader's Digest "Expand your Vocabulary" column.

I have been reading these for years, and my word count has increased significantly.

I think that this column is real real....ummmmmm.......good.
