My ancestors came over in 1678, all you who have responded negatively and have come after 1678 are illegal aliens in my mind....GET OUT OF MY COUNTRY!!!

All of you "immigrants" that have come after 1678 should consider yourself damn lucky my ancestors didn't have your attitude and let your poor, homeless decrepid ancestors into my beautiful country.

My wife is an immigrant, and I can bet I pay more taxes than 95% of you. She had to work hard to become an American, and truely personafies what it is to be an American.

The next time you decide to spew....just remember, someone in your family risked their life invading my beautiful country to afford you a better chance. Thank them for their courage, because they had to face the same ignorant, moronic attitude you are displaying now.

Now enjoy MY country, remember, you are only a visitor.

Ducati, what part of "illegal" don't you understand?
This is NOT about immigration.
Putting your blinders on doesn't negate that fact.

As for other posts "proving" the worth of illegal Mexicans because they pick lettuce, not only are you stereotyping them, you are also ingnoring basic economics.
True, it would be tough for farmers initially, and prices would rise. But do you think for one moment that it would be the end to American produce?
Couldn't we create equipment to replace the $2.50/hr workers? Or better yet, couldn't we take some of the legal Americans (Hispanic, White or whatever) who are on welfare and put them into these menial jobs that others don't want?
If we as a country could eliminate most of the illegal immigration, we could then spend the time and resources on improving the lives of those who live here and came here legally.
Using the cry of "racism" only hurts our chances to help those that deserve it. Because vocal "do-gooders" jump on the bandwagon and proclaim those opposed to illegal border crossings as "evil".
Look how much discussion has been expended here. All because some of us are against ILLEGAL (look it up) immigration.

hey let's "take" some of "them" and chain them together and they can form bonds with their neighbors as the work the fields.

Tail-

lol- If they had equipment that could do it cheaper, they would already be using it (simple economics). Secondly, if your toothless, cousin-marryin' white trash sister were willing to work in the fields she wouldn't be on welfare in the first place, would she?
(Ohhhh.. wait, can I say that? Were those remarks more or less diparaging than the remarks about the Mexicans in the poem? But it was just a tongue-in-cheek caricature, so it's "OK"... right?)

Tailgater,

If the current political climate existed when your ancestors invaded MY country, they would have been ILLEGAL. Did that change my moral obligation to accept your ancestors into my country?????

Jefferson:

Thx for the words of appreciation. While I did hold some animosity towards the Cubans while we were guarding them, it had more to do with the attitude we had to have to be ready for more riots. Plus, as infantrymen we were all trained for something much different then riot control, basically our training consisted of killing the enemy. As a result the attitude that prevailed throughout our battalion was that the Cubans were the enemy. By the end our stay there though, I (along with most of my compadres) had sympathy for their plight. And yes, there was barbed wire, which even to me seemed excessive; no machine-guns though, only (unloaded) shotguns.

Poverty is a horrible thing to see, which we all saw first hand in Panama on our few days off. There are buildings in Panama City that suffered damage when we captured Noriega that haven't been repaired and still are apartment buildings/businesses.

Last word: Panama was full of poor, yet the few I came into contact with were full of cheer and seemed happy. We passed thru several villages where just the sight of us brought smiles and cheers. When I start to fret over not having enough money to buy , I do think of what I saw there and I am very grateful to live in this country and have the luxury (shame) of worrying over what TV to buy while some people have much bigger worries. Time for me to stop rambling and go to sleep.

Rick,
Nothing wrong with folks working for their pay, is there?

Jefferson,
Family jokes? Thank you for showing the board your true colors.

Duc,
That is indeed true, but legality is all in the timing. Cocaine used to be legal. Alcohol was illegal at one time in America. Folks who produced or sold or drank alcohol DURING prohibition were breaking the law and could be prosecuted.
Our country is on the road to financial ruin. Allowing people to dodge the system because they provide cheap labor does not negate the fact that they are breaking the law. And all too often they end up becoming an economic liablity without ever having paid taxes to the very system that supports them.

Ruining the country was the same argument my ancestors used when your ancestors invaded.

But Jeffersonn, if the two are so different why then is it ok for someone to come to this country illegally to better themself and their family, but not ok for someone to sell pot for the same reason?

I never said the judicial system was a waste of money. I said the the whole Alien Gonzalez fiasco was a waste of money. The kid was not a US citizen nor were his LEGAL (although legal and illegal is a topic it seems many on this board struggle with) guardians. Send the kid back where he belongs. Sounds simple enough to me.
