CompUSA has 1GB thumbdrives for less than $70 in stock. I'm definitely going to try this.

I'd still like to solve the other problem, though, just so I'll know the answer.

Looked there. Lots of sellers from the UK and Australia priced in their local currencies with shipping to match the distance. No thanks. For something like this I'd rather be able to take it back to the store if it fails.

Right now I'm on my SECOND dvd recorder. First one had sound but no picture. Tuner doesn't work on the second one. Being able to take it back to the store is worth a few dollars more.

interesting discussions about different ways to do the same thing.

personally i like simple software. when i was learning how to use a computer about ten years ago. i don't have

a clue which edition of windows it used.

i found two programs, copied them and am still using them on xp pro.

card file which will alphabetize or numberbetize.

(put info in number order or date order)

the other is the write program that kept me in the office almost every night for 3 or 4 hours trying to make form letters and letterhead. i know there are better programs now, cuter, sexier, but we have been through so much together, i can't dump write for a trophy word processor.

Just wanted to report in. I bought a thumbdrive from CompUSA today. Plugged it into my work computer and *ZAP* it fried my computer. Totally dead. Kaput. No life. Zip. Nada. D-E-A-D.

The thumbdrive is dead, too. It won't work in any computer at the office, or home, or the company notebook.

Good thing I can take it back to CompUSA.

Just thought I'd let you all know what happened.
