Dunno...I was given one of these in a trade and I smoked it a few days ago at work
Absolutely loved it!..Straightforward excellent smoke, loads of creamy medium bodied flavors, could be more complex but still a great cigar!

JJ, e-mail me. [email protected]

I keep smoking these in the shop and waiting for the Heavens to open, but it's just not happening. I just don't find this cigar at all remarkable.

To me it's a decent cigar but it depends on what size. The Monarca and the Corona Minor are the best,IMO. Also I think these will get even better with some dor time. X

Are these the ones with the lion on the box? I've been wanting to try one. Think I'll find one or two today. They sound good.

BTW, if it is the one with the lion on the box, does anyone have an empty box that they'd be willing to send me?

Thanks - Marla

Marla... I think the one with the lion on the box would be a La Aurora... pretty good smoke but not the same cigar... they are Dominican and also offer a premium perfecto cigar named Perferidos... very good... they recently released a maduro in this line and I'm still looking to try one...

John, that's the one...thank you! I just couldn't remember correctly!

I found a cigar shop on our drive up the coast to Long Beach today...The Board Room...but none were to be found. Another day...

A differing point of view from a cigar review site:

I wish we could say that the looks matched the flavor. Unfortunately, a river of disappointment spilled down on this cigar from our reviewers. As the reviews rolled in, it was quite obvious that appearance and construction were attributes well received...and then the roof fell in.

"What in the name of all that is sacred is that taste? This cigar is trying to be full bodied, but is only pulling off full of crap!"

Granted not all comments were that succinct, but they didn't stray far.

"This cigar had a awful aftertaste. This dry and oppressive taste started half way through the cigar, and never let up.”

We ended up with 5 disappointed reviewers. While the attractive price of La Aroma de Cuba is going to attract some buyers, there are far to many cigars in this price range, and flavor target that get the job done better. We gave the La Aroma de Cuba Monarch a grade of “C” as it may get better with age…but were not sure who will be around to see.

I liked mine ... I've had a half a dozen more since the one I mentioned at the beginning of this thread and have enjoyed them ... I can't say it's the best I ever tried, but I do like them and most, though not all, others whose taste has proven to be similar to my own seem to agree ...

No cigar pleases everyone ... I even had a visitor in my office yesterday who told me he was quite happy with his White Owls and saw no need for "expensive" smokes like he saw in my desktop humidor (which are mostly seconds and knockoffs that're in my work humi because it doesn't break my heart to toss a half smoked one at lunchtime if time runs short) ...

This is an interesting thread, just for the huge variety of opinion. Might as well toss in my nickle's worth. I jumped on one as soon as my brick-n-mud guy had one. He educated me, too, that Ashton distributes them, but Torano rolls them, which is fine with me. I was underwhelmed with the smoke. But then again, it's always dangerous to grab one green from a new line and judge it. I'm letting the other 2 sleep until Spring for a re-test.
