(I work with the guy in that picture… I just wish I was in that good of shape).

Here’s a site that has them for a great price… it’s not our site, but they’ve got them priced right.

Hmm... looks like our price is even better... just noticed that. See, that's why I don't work in Sales or Marketing.

I have heard about injuries resulting from the Bowflex. That may be the cause of the recall that was mentioned above. Definitely do some research. I would Google "bowflex injury" or something like that.

That lawyer's site has detailed information about the problems and injuries.

Well... i'll tell you this from experience... if your goal is to lose weight (i've rollercoastered up and down 3 times) you HAVE to change your diet. Exercise is part of the equation, but diet is a bigger portion.

I have had more success with running than any other exercise. I hate to run, and I do not stay consistent with any diet, thus the rollercoaster.

Now, I TRY to eat sensible (not always successfully) and I do 45 minutes on an elliptical 3-4 times a week to help me stay heart healthy. I have 2 fat parents and have given up all hope of ever getting under 200 again, so I just exercise to keep my heart healthy. Currently 214 pounds and a member in good standing of the FBC. I thought the holidays were going to do alot worse, I was 212 to start and only gained 2 pounds... which, now that I am back on the elliptical, should shed off again as long as I stay away from the chocolate chip cookies.

The model I'm looking at is the Xtreme2. I have limited space so it's smaller footprint is appealing. They are very well made since Nautilus started building them. It comes with a 7 year warranty and the power rods are guaranteed forever.

The Weiders have come a long way but they don't appear to be as sturdy as the Bowflexes. I looked at them at "The Sports Authority" and those rods were already cracking at the mount points. They're made of lighter gauge steel and use too much plastic for my tastes. They generally just feel more flimsey to me. I don't trust the new ones with the electronic resistance. The electronic clutch system is bound to weaken and fail eventually along with the controlling circuitry. And they take up more space than the Bowflex Xtremes.

MACS is right, if you're looking to shed pounds, you need an aerobic exorcise... running, swimming, elliptical, bike, etc.. The Bowflex-type machines are more for strength training and muscle building. Diet should be a big part of either one you choose.

MACS, unfortunately, you are correct.

I'm going to do a Weight Watchers diet.

On the bright side, Hoyo de Monterrey double maduro-double coronas are pretty lo-cal/carb/fat.

One other thing... Strength training may cause you to gain weight at first. Adding muscle puts weight on, even if you're losing fat. The best course is to use strength training and some form of aerobic exercise with the diet.

Most health experts used to say 20 minutes of cardio was good. It has been said now that it takes your body 10-20 minutes to burn off the stored sugar in your muscles before ever getting to the fat, so I would recommend at least 30 minutes of anything that makes your heart go faster (running, biking, elliptical, rowing, etc.) Walking is good, but it doesn't raise your heart rate enough.

Exercise has never been a problem for me. I just like to eat food that stays with you. :^)

I lifted weights for a number of years and still really enjoy it, but I have a bum shoulder (MRI on Jan 7) so I have not lifted for some time...

I too, agree with MACS.

THL, I wish you the very best in your journey for self improvement.

Here at the FBC (Fat Bastids' Club) we will always keep the door open for you, my friend.

Remember to wear your manssierre and be generous with the talcum powder (avoid chafing).

I don't mind being a little fat. But I've become a lot fat. I need 2 memberships in the Fat Bastards Club.

At 51 I find I'm starting to lose the muscle needed to move that fat around.

Lose some fat, gain some muscle, those are my goals. I want to be able to play a round of golf without it killing me for 2 days afterward.

And yes Beat, when the wife is out of town it can be nice to still have some tits to play with.
