Mac,

I was in the Army for 13 years. I was in the CH-47 Helicopter business. I spent most of my career overseas, and a great deal of it in Alaska. While in Alaska I flew to a lot of places.

Why is is so difficult to realize that some folks just see a lot of places in their lives? I'm still in a business that puts me travelling most of the time. In fact I'll be leaving on Sunday for another Korea-China-Singapore-China-Korea-Japan run for another 3 weeks or so.

You've been a few places too. Why don't you share some of your stories?

I traveled a lot as a young lad out of college. Much more than most of my contemporaries.

After a few years, too many of my stories started with "Well, when I went to _____ and met _____ and we ____...".

It didn't take long for me to realize that my well intentioned "dialogs" came across as self righteous blather.

Trust me, I don't suggest that you intend these stories to boost your ego. But perception is reality.

And please don't let this stop you from posting some of your experiences, my friend. Many are enjoyable to read about. It just gets old when it's all the time.

Yeah...I see your point.

It seems that no matter what you post, if it's not a picture of some model getting paid to look cute in front of the camera for middle aged lions, or some sort of criticism of those that are different than us, nobody likes it.

If everybody would post their fun memories and good times this place might be a lot nicer......

So I'm not nice???

Hey, my camcorder has been to Alaska, and it didn't shoot any bear for food nor for sport.

Does that count?

post pictures of the bears and the mountains.

As I said in a post a few months back, the only thing I shoot these days is photos......

I like the real photos that folks post the best. I look at all of them.

" some sort of criticism of those that are different than us"

oh yeah......I guess it's easier to criticise others.

I criticised myself for posting that photo of me with the 5 foot tall, 93 pound girl and NOT having the common sense to NOT have camel toes in the photo.

I'm pretty rough on myself at times you know.

I live in Idaho. Bear hunting is lame. I especially love how hunters chase them around with dogs. Lame and pathetic.

I'll have to check the tape to see if my inlaws caught any bears with it.

I've never been hunting, although many of my friends do. It's just not one of my hobbies.

I've heard that Alaska is one of the most beautiful areas in North America. I'm sure I'll go there someday.
