What are those things you mentioned there X?

wbslngr ... if you do a Google search on those names, you'll find out very quickly and with pictures too ... I've bought some of those and they're good units ... but I'll tell you again, they're no better than one you can make yourself ... I'm not kidding even a little bit ... my 2 for $5soap dish and tupperware humidifiers work every bit as well as those $50 units

You are right Steve. A soap dish and a sweater box will work just fine. I just like my wood humidors. And I like the humidifiers to take up as little space as possible. If you look at pic post, old box #2, I have a Diamond Crown mounted in the center of the middle tray. More smokes in there that way. Though I have not used one, the Oshkosh humidifier looks pretty good too. It is bulkier that the Diamond Crown but costs less.

I've got an Oshkosh in a 300ct humi ... it works fine and I like it ... I saw your pic on that humi you made and thought the way you put that slim unit in the tray was great ... very nice work ... it's obvious your woodworking skills far exceed my own and if you were a bit closer to me, I'd wanta hire you to build one for me ... LOL ... the beauty of wood is one of my great passions in life and one of these days, I'm gonna have a killer humi to show some pics of too ... but, even if I did, I'd keep my
three very nice wood desktops and my wood travel unit that have home made humidifiers in them ... the little units that came with the boxes cannot begin to compare with the functionality I've got now ... and yes, they DO take up a bit of space, but you'd be surprised how much higher in the box the cigars can be stacked without the unit velcroed to the lid ... so I don't really lose all that much storage capacity ... in a 50 ct box, ANY humidifier will take up SOME potential storage space ...

So it is just a soap dish, florist foam, and holes. Add distilled water and done?

A travel soap dish, a small tupperware type container, any sort of container that will hold water ... easy way to install the foam is to just push the little container into the foam, then trim it off evenly ... drill holes in the lid of teh container so that the moisture can evaporate ... saturate it with a 50/50 mix of PG and distilled water ... snap the holey lid in place and voila ... a humidifier .. add distilled water as necessary ... it is not necessary to add PG more than once or twice a year ... yep, it's that easy

BUT !!! ... it is critical you be sure to use what is called WET florist foam, not dry florist foam ... dry foam will not work ...
