SAK vs Xikar:The SAK is way cool for outdoor/camping and such as you have a decent ? poket knife,bottle opener and can opener right in your pocket + a usable,almost perfect screwdriver to adjust that the finicky lighter.I have the plastic Xikar and love it,also Xikar is limetime Guaranteed for sharpening.
I'd buy both...

Sorry to bring back an old thread, but I just wanted to update everyone on what I decided on. I bought a Xikar Xi1 cutter in titanium, and my initials are getting engraved on it. Pretty snazzy huh? I expect it to come in next week.

An exchange student from the DR, laughed at my cutter, hand then showed ne how she moistened the cap with her mouth and sucked the cap off. We will be married in 2 weeks:-) God I LOVE that girl:-) She smoked cigars too 🙂 Wouldn't trade her for all of the cutters in the world 🙂

Here's something a little different, I have friend that is fireman, used his surgical scissors, could not believe how sharp and smooth they worked. Now trying to get my own pair. Why do they call scissors a pair?????????

Xikars are great cutters..You really can't go wrong..I also have one of those desktop DR Matchless electric cutters (Very cool) but IMHO no one here named the best cutter available: Palio!...I used to swear by Xikar but when I used a friend's Palio (also has a lifetime warranty, same as Xikar), I was very impressed...I've had mine for about a year and it's perfect!...Doesn't "grab" like Xikars sometimes do, causing a small tear in the wrapper...I haven't had a bad cut yet with my Palio!

...and I've owned every Xikar made (except for the newest one..the knife one...Owned the original Xikar, Xi2, and two of the Xi3s (rosewood AND rubber grips)

personally i prefer a band saw over a radial arm saw, it makes a cleaner cut and the cigar doesn't go flying out the back of the saw.

buy a box ofempty cartridges. the ones i bought from a gun shop cost about five bucks or less for 20. the cartridge is 2" long and about a drop less than 1/2 " in diameter.

the cartidge says, well it doesn't really talk, but stamped on the bottom is: r p 45-70 govt. i'm sure they have different sizes. sharpen the edge with your dremel or a belt sander.
