Two good new cigars are the Fonseca Serie F and the Cubita Spanish Market Selection, both made by Manuel Quesada at MATASA. The Serie F is med. bodied with a rich flavor. The CSMS is full-bodied and a real bargain.

The Antano 1970s are too strong for me! Make me feel like my head's been used as a pile driver.

I think the La Flor Dominicana Limitado, is a good choice for a rising star. They are little hard to come by but very yummy.

I think the AVO's, (which have already been known to be top notch) are gaining on competitors. It's hard to find a bad batch of them and boy are they creamy!

I absolutely love the Cupido Criollo series. It is deserving of a place in the rising star category IMHO.

I like the Cupido Criollo also. I just PU a box of Campanas for $35. X

Ditto on the Cupidos. The Don Thomas Cameroon line is also underrated. Oh and I almost forgot the Estavan Cruz line is also tasty but unheralded.

(Manuel Quesada makes lots of terrific cigars. Most of late, unheralded)

Rising star: Hoyo de Monterrey Dark Sumatra is reported to be the exact same blend as the EMS wrapped Hoyo de Monterrey Estelo 75th Anniversary Cabinet Selection.

The offerings from the Gurkha Regent and the Gurkha Ltd Expedition as well as 2 beautiful Torpedos from Trilogy - the Native Cameroon and the Corojo - one of the best bangs for the buck in a long time.

My brother hardly smokes anything else but Cupido. Before I introduced him to Cupido he usually smoked Davidoff. He prefers the Cupido, and the humongous difference in price is just a bonus. True story.

Mayorga, tastes like it cost 3X what you paid.

Seriously my vote is for Mayorga. One of the few cigar that are great out of the box

Has your brother tried Private Stock, reported to be Davidoff seconds or Troya in maduro, which are made in the Davidoff factory, and are a far cheaper facsimile to the Davidoff Millenium?

I was gifted a Cupido Maduro? by xrundog with some Buc's (Thank you Tim!). I've had the criollo and was not overly impressed, but i thought the maduro (aged maduro?) was most excellent. Very nice. Surprisingly good! MAGICALLY DELICIOUS!! U-FING BELIVABLE!!!!!!! (Sam Kinason voice) AHH AHHH AHHH, pant pant, I might want to order some.

I have to agree with everyone on the Mayorgas. I was turned on to them when they first came out and have enjoyed many a Mayorga since then.

This cigar is no sleeper but is definitely, quietly, on the fast rise... the Trilogy line by Alec Bradley. Got one in a sampler the other day, and man thats one smooth, tasty 'gar. ANd they fell great in your hand! I have recently read alot of great comments on the boards, and even Gonz praised them last month on CI.com.

Its a comer.

I misspoke earlier when I said Cupido Maduro. It was a Cupido Toro Negro. VERY nice...

I must say, since the first Mayorga Gordito maduro, I have been hooked. Very close to a Padron, somewhat like the Sosa. I am trying to pawn off all the moocher smokes I have bought over the last couple of years to make room in my humi for more of these puppies.
