Dr Pepperhill,

Havana is now so decayed after 50 years of neglect that entire buildings literally collapse with some regularity. It is a darn shame. Once we get back in there, we're gonna have to buy it all up, bulldoze it, build exact replicas with new building code standards. Tourists don't really care about those details! Then we push all the peasants back into the countryside, have a great time for 50 years, and then they rise up again and....dammit!

Adroomi,

I almost had to go to Prague on Monday. I wasn't sure how well I was gonna like driving in the Czech Republic. I have at least got it pushed back to January...maybe even dumped on someone else.

"almost had to go to Prague?"

Dump that trip on me! I'd love to go! One of my "must see before I die" cities.

I'm trying to plan a summer trip to Turkey. I want to see that country so bad. Culture, beauty, and simple amazement await me. A couple of friends of mine just came back and they can't stop raving about it.

By the way, while in the Netherlands, do you intend to take a stroll through the teahouse districts? I imagine your son is a bit young to be exposed to that sort of stuff, but it's a must see I think. Not to partake in the activities, but at least to see.

Adroomi,

I haven't really planned Amsterdam out yet. I'm thinking about Keukenhof Gardens and a stroll around downtown. I don't think we can avoid the teahouses but it isn't high on my list. ...Maybe museums, maybe diamonds... It is going to pressed for time so it will be pick one and go...

Well...my recommendation is that you find ONE particular sight you would like to see, and spend ALL of your time there learning it, feeling it, and generally soaking it in.

Otherwise, you're simply living in a gift shop like a souvenier hunting tourist.

Walking is always fun in a new place.
