If it was a Buc, you could hold it sideways.

Really...nice ash. I don't usually have the patience to lay on my back and smoke one till it does that. 😉

If it was a Buc, it wouldn't have been a CAO Brazilia ...

IMHO I like the Bucaneros as well as the CAO, but I would not "dis" a CAO Brazila as being inferior to Bucs.

Although a large ash is indicative of a good roll, it is merely one aspect of a well made cigar, and perhaps the least important one at that. I'm letting my newly purchased (I can't say "won" since I'm paying) CAO Brazilia's sit before I try one for the first time. When I do, I hope the ash isn't the best part.
Ditto for the Bucs. When I eventually get around to trying one, I'm afraid that all I'll be thinking about is being able to drive it into a 2 x 4 like a 16 penny nail.
Last I checked, I enjoy cigars for their flavor, not their ability to do tricks.
No offense to the post, that picture is actually pretty impressive. It's just that I've heard this too much with the Buccanero's and it seems silly to focus on such a trivial aspect of their supposed quality.
In the mean time, any suggestions for exactly which buc to try?

tailgater --- Any new cigar tricks?

Legend has it that the famous trail lawyer Clarence Darrow used this device to keep members of the jury revited as his opponents delivered there arguments and other orations.

Darrow was a cigar smoker and during his trials his cigar ash would get longer and longer without falling. Everyone in the court room stared at the end of his cigar……waiting……..and anticipating when it would finally drop; It never did.

Needless to say, the jurors had a difficult time concentrating on what the prosecute attorney was saying. Instead, all they can do was focus on Darrows ash.

All you need to perform this trick is a hairpin or paperclip which has been straightened out and a cigar. Insert the long wire into the head of the cigar. This wire in the middle prevents a precariously long ash from falling.

Light the cigar and begin smoking as usual. Even if you do not point out the long ash people will eventually notice it.

Imagine, you hold your cigar like a giant match and strike the bottom against the surface of a match book suddenly igniting the cigar, appearing to light by itself.

... and here's another ...

To make this trick work, you need a wooden match cut in half, which is pushed into the bottom of your cigar, barley exposing its head, just enough to strike on a matchbook cover.

Introduce the prepared cigar and keep it moving as you talk. After asking for a light, say that you forgot these cigars are self-ignighting, proceeding to strike the exposed match head against the striking surface of a matchbox.

As soon as it ignights, puff on the head to fully ignite it, the evidence will burn as you smoke.

Many more cigar tricks can be found in the book The Amazing Cigar By Giovanni Livera & Jon Racherbaumer.

OH!!! ... and to answer your question:

Go for an 'el Capitan Peg Leg' or 'el Capitan Reserva Maduro'. If you can't get a hold of either one of those ... the 'Red Ring' Maduro is very nice!

Thanks Slim.
For both the recommendations and also for the "long ash" trick.
I've heard of that one before but never tried it. But I will.
I likely won't try the self ignition trick, since the sulfur flavor of the match is likely to ruin the cigar.

When you do get around to trying a Brazilia or a Buc you will definatly find that the ash isn't the best part.
