Thanks for the pic TOJE. I have the 15 count model. Once you deplete half of your smokes the rest can bounce around. There's my solution! And nicely done too!

A buddy of mine has one like that and said the only bad thing is that since they're airtight if you don't open them every couple months the air gets stale. I think you've got bigger problems than stale air if you only open your humidor every few months!!!

SCHWEEEET!!! Very nicely done trays!

ksinger --- being that it's main purpose is for use as a 'travel 'dor', I don't think they are meant for long term cigar storage ...

... and stale air really isn't the problem if you do, it's mold!

Being air tight ... you won't need to put distilled water in them as often, if at all (if the cigars are already properly humidified) ...

The larger Otterboxes have a valve that you can adjust to control this (they claim it's for arplane trips to release pressure so you don't blow the O-Ring), but it also works great to vent some of the humidity.

Thanks for the info slim...makes a lot more sense than the stale air thing. I like that feature on the larger ones, but I think I'll just stick with my cheapo EasyDor. I had some problems regulating the humidity at first, but added some circles of cedar on the bottom and some tubo inserts in with the cigars and now it's pegged at 70% pretty consistently.

Looks great!!

Is there anything to prevent the lower cigars from hitting the wood on the tray above?? Any padding in between??

Lowman, there's a layer of foam on the bottom of each tray to protect it from the lower trays filled with cigars. It's been well thought out.

Toje,

Nice modifications! I'll have to get me one of those here shorty!

You might want to post your email in a different way as spammers cruise the bulletin boards and use a program to pull emails off of them. They will now barrage you with all kinds of junk.

Try sfaccendaat tiffany(dot)com

Just as long as you do not have the at sign or a period followed by com you should be alright.

I have got the 15 cigar caddy ordered. If this post hadn't been here I would not learned of the perils that my sticks might have faced in the event that they didn't travel as a full group. NOW, I can remedy the problem before I have to put my little friends through the torture of a 4-wheel outing to the desert. Thanks to the forum for making available such useful information. And also to all the critics among us that make sure all the constructions have been thought out to the nth degree... AAAAAAArrrrrgggghhh

PufftheDragon --- all cigar caddies come with individual groved foam trays to hold the stated amount of cigars ...

... they are well protected and won't move around (much) if it's not full.

Heck ... just bid on the smaller one that holds 4 to 5 sticks for those shorter trips!

Yup...the foam...that's what I like about them. Just this past weekend I dropped mine down my basement steps and the cigars were completely unharmed.

The lump on my son's head is better also.
