A post about -- suprise, a novelty recently -- a great cigar!

Just had a Puros Indios Toro Especial that had been in the humi a while -- a gift from someone here! Rolando Reyes did a good thing here! Honduras cigar with Dominican & Nicaraguan and a nice Colorado wrapper. It was full-flavored and rich - great with a tumbler of Canyon Creek on the rocks! 6.0" x 50 ring of pure flavor! I liked it -- thanks to my cigarbidbuddy!

Early on in my cigar adventures, I stumbled on a rolling event put on by Puros Indios. I had a great time watching the torcedor while smoking the free churchill he just rolled for me. I also got a spankin' deal on some toro viejos long before I'd seen them elsewhere. I've had a fondness for Puros Indios ever since that probably exceeds what is warranted by the cigars alone. They had previously flown completely under my radar, but now I've always got some in my humidor.

PI is a consistent favorite with me. It's an odd cigar, in that folks tend to either love or hate them. Very few tweeners.

One of my favorites too. Lately, they seem to be coming up a lot in the closeout/discount sections. I hope this doesn't mean the eventual demise of a once highly sought after cigar.

I smoked my first one of these last week, picked it up in a trade with cayman2b. Really, really smooth!!!! Nice honduran tobacco flavors with a really buttery, silky finish. Perfectly straight burn with loads of cool smoke, draw was almost too easy. Had some underlying vegetal flavors I didn't care for but really didn't take away from it too much. All and all a nice smoke!

I tried a bunch of these last summer. Nasty. Wouldn't smoke them with Jane Fonda's mouth.

While I enjoyed a recent PI that I received in a sampler, I prefer a couple other Rolando Reyes offerings: Pirate's Gold and Genuine. Both are cheap, fairly full-bodied, with really nice flavor profiles. Pirate's Gold is nicely peppery and Genuine becomes simply outstanding with a little humi time.

I have been smoking these conistantly for years. They really need some age, years, to go beyond average. Currently a box of toros more than 2 years old is smoking great.

I gotta agree with gerber on the Genuine. Put them away and forget you have them for six months, and they become treasure.

imo the darker the wrapper the better on rolando reyes products.

The PI toro in maduro has to be one of the best cigars on the planet for what you can buy them for. jmho.

no tweener here either, 'gater ... I don't much care for 'em, although I understand that taste being as different as it is, there are any number of those out there who DO like 'em ... almost as much as I like some of the cigars they don't much care for ...

In fact, I can't think of a single cigar on which we would all agree 100% ... 'cept maybe PAMs ... those might be the one cigar I've not seen dissed here ...

PAM is definitely one all agree on! The Puros Indios are very good cigars if they age in the humi for a long time.....IMHO.

Steve, we will never all agree on any cigars, but that is the fun of the forum.

I'm just about to put a torch to a Pirate's Gold I've had in the humidor for a year or so. Didn't much care for them fresh from the dealer, but I had one a week ago that was great. This one has a nice oily look to it.

im fond of them pirates gold, ray. but again, the darker they are the better i like em.

Let's not forget the Cuba Aliados.
Same basic smoke as the PI, and you can find them on the cheap at a lot of places.
The Roly is simply terrible. One of the worst I've ever smoked, and I gave it several chances because Rolando Reyes was involved with it.
I thought the Genuine was a decent smoke for the money (cheap), but I may not have given it enough time in storage.
The newer Puros Indios Maximus Reserva is OUTSTANDING. Fullest cigar with zero bite that I've ever smoked.
Crap, I need more of those and now I let the cat out of the proverbial bag.
